There is a procedure to manually override the top. If you have an owners manual it is in there. If not, do a search here it had been addressed in other threads. I have read the procedure before but fortunately have not needed to use it.

If you don't have an owner's manual, download one here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html

The procedure is something we all should learn to do, so that if caught in the rain (or whatever, maybe a dead battery) we can put the top up or down at will.
I put mine up and down manually 2 or 3 times a year just to know how to do it.

You will need the top tool (came with the car, look in the baggy-thing on the back wall between the seats, in the trunk with the jack or tire pump, or in the glove box) and a hex key (I think it's a 6.5 mm, but you can buy a set of metric hex key tools at the auto store for $10 and just keep the one that works in the car.)

It is super easy to do, but if you have short arms, or no upper body muscle, have a friend help you !

A pdf of the Crossfire manual is also available on the Official site of Chrysler cars, convertibles and minivans | Chrysler website. Also for virtually all Chrysler models.

How long you had the car ? Sounds silly but there a bunch of switches and limiters that have to be "just right" for the top to come down. Admit took me about two weeks to figure it all out. If the boot catch in the trunk isn't right the top will not retract...if there's a switch that scenes movement that's broke medal tip it will not move. The top was constructed by the best in the industry (personal input there)...but there's a good many switches and latches that have to be in the correct position for the top to move. Take a good look in the trunk. If the catch blinder isn't in the right position ................it will never work. Make sure both sides are pulled UP and seated. It hits a switch. Both sides !!! you don't complete the circuit there...the top will never move.....

Agreed, like knowing how to change the tire, knowing how to put the top up manually is essential knowledge. It's not something you do often, but when you need it, you need it!
