Ashtray Won't Stay Closed
2005 Aero Blue Roadster LTD - Ashtray just decided it did not want to stay closed, keeps sliding back out when I try to close it. So annoying! Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix or do I need to replacee it. Really want to aviod calling Chrysler, the dealership close to where I work in Central FL has a horrible reputation!!
Thanks in advance for any help/advice,
Jen

Its a pretty common issue. As far as I remember, you can either replace it or take the spring out so it doesn't pop out on its own... mine is just pushed so far in that it doesn't pop out..
Here's one option for fixing it: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ray-2-0-a.html
Let me know how it turns out, I haven't bothered with mine yet.

I purchased a bin from the dealer, painted it silver, installed it ,and I love it. A great place for the cellphone in the convertible. I have a like new cup holder that is perfect in every way.??? I will never need it. It was a real bad place for a drink anyway. Dog
Hahaha, genius. It'll be like the little red button, whatever you do don't EVER press the little red button!
Official Chrysler repair kit for ash tray repair.
The Zinc finish blends really well with the OEM console finish.

I have been storing my keys in the ashtray each day so its been opening and closing hundreds of times. Suddenly it would not lock in so I went to the dealer to see what the ashtray replacement piece was. Ready? The entire part was $395.00 and it was huge! You would have to take the center console apart to R&R it. With labor and parts it would cost over $500.00, hardly worth it. My next move it to mix a two part quick dry epoxy and ensure the damn thing is forever in the closed position!
Unless someone can please provide a step by step procedure on how to remove the console panels to access the ashtray to break the spring mechanism, so it just slides in and out.
Thanks
Bob
