Compliment
Took the roadster to fill her up and a guy at the next pump says, "Nice car". The same thing has happened 3 other times in the last month. I don't know many other 8 year old cars (mine's an 05) that create that kind of response.
We get that with our '05 as well, and get involved in long conversations in Walmart and Fry's parking lots about our Roadster...

Get that alot and love it. When they ask the price i hate telling them such a low price because it doesnt look like a car under 15grand.
One time, someone thought it was a porsche, another time i was driving downtown on a party night, and heard someone say "i woundn't mind that crossfire".
When i first got it, i took it to Krown to get it rust proofed, and they guy looked under it and around it and didnt see rust.
he said this is not a chrysler.
another time i was driving to the dealership to look at getting a G37, but on my way there, the car was getting alot of attention.
I made u turn, and changed my mind about selling it.

Mention Barrett-Jackson and they'll say they make great liquorice.
That may pass over most peoples heads. LOL
I stopped by a VERY rural tavern in northern Michigan last week, the three people in there had never heard of a crossfire. The first reponse was "I can't believe Chrysler built something like that..."
I explained to him that, while it WAS technically a Chrysler design, it was not built by them and was of Mercedes/Karmann origin.
One of my Brothers, the one I visited this week, lives up there. He's a retired GM executive - he and his wife were impressed, and when I told him I paid $12,000 for it with 44,000 miles, Helen''s repsonse was, "Well, we've been thinking of a convertible". They live so far north, and so close to Lake Michigan's snowfalls - they'd drive it MAYBE 6 months a year.

I wouldn't say 'connoisseurs' so much as gearheads...it's amazing, though, the number of higher-end BMW, Mercedes, Jag that you see at WallyWorld/Sam's....I might try that Barrett-Jackson joke!
I have gotten the "nice car" comment at the gas pumps a couple time. Back in June I took the car to a show and there were four people milling around the car before I even got out of her. One of them says "I hate to even ask what you paid for something like that." He was quite surprised when I told him $12,500
I had the car all polished up yesterday and stopped in at the local Tigermarket to grab a Red Bull... when I came out, there was a guy and his wife admiring it. We spoke briefly, but that scenario happens all the time. I love the attention this car gets. It's an uncommon machine, and when it's kept clean and tasteful, it grabs as many looks as anything else out there.
I pull up to get gas and a girl tells me "nice car man!" I say "thanks
"
I get out to get gas and she says "nice pants" pop the gas tank open and verify everything is where it should be down there and turn around to say thanks again. HAHA

I receive the "nice car" or thumbs up enough to surprise me, especially with an 8 year old vehicle. Couple weeks ago I was gassing up the SRT6 at Speedway and a woman in her Suburban with three older kids slowly drives me, all of them staring intently at me...and then I realized they were looking at the SRT6. When she got out at her pump, she too called out nice car.
I went to a local car show last weekend, not to compete but to just be a normal "spectator". As I was slowly driving through the parking lot looking for a empty spot (hey that rhymes-I should be a rap star) , I saw a few people pointing at my ride. Some had followed me all the way to my cars final parking place. I heard a young woman exclaim "OMG What is THAT?" Is that a custom?" I laugh and said No...Its a Chrysler" One guy said "That car should be out there with the others...Beautiful car dude". I thank them for the compliments and struck up immediate conversations about the origin and history of the Crossfire. I LOVE my Crossfire. Its great to drive something you dont see on the road everyday.
