slotted and drilled. you have people on both sides of the fence here. I have them on the roadster, but they aren't needed. I have realized after doing the brake Job on the roadster the rotors on these cars are fine. Best to spend your $$$$ on ceramic pads, metal lines, and high performance high heat fluid. now if you are going round track racing every weekend, then you would benefit from them. My coupe just does straight line racing, and stock rotors with the other upgrades are just fine for that style of racing. I upgraded the roadster with R1 Concepts for the price. Good luck.

No one needs drilled and or slotted or both. But they look so cool! All rotors crack from the heat of racing and they crack quicker with holes drilled in them. On the street they should be fine. The holes/slots will wear the brake pads quicker. But they look soooo cool! Stopping isn't better that I can tell with them. Perhaps the pads bite quicker. Some claim the slots give an escape route for the dust or gases released under hard repeated braking. I don't know. But they look so COOL! In other words, in my opinion, they are more for appearance on a street car. I wouldn't cut yours. If you have to have them, buy them new because they look so cool.

No one can see your rotors when running on the road so it is appearance only mod in the parking lot. Yes they look so cool. I agree with Doc and Osofast, total over kill for our cars.

Paint your calipers and call it a day. Now that looks cool.

I can't say about our cars but on my Wifes old 99 Taurus it went through standard rotors about 4 times a year. I bought drilled rotors from Autoanything.com and 4 years and 35000 miles later they are still fine.

Quality of rotors in that case. The rotors on our XF's are great. They are heavy and thick. Nothing wrong with the XF rotors...but a Ford...lol....

I don't believe that there is any benefit since NASCAR, Indycar cars and Formula ! don't use them. But they do look cool. I was going to drill my own with a pattern duplicated twice around the diameter but don't want to do anything that might be detrimental to brake performance or wear, so I will pass on this mod.

Was just gawking at that exact sample this morning! Cross-drilled rotors are more of a show piece than anything. Blame that in part, due to the fact you've got less clamping surface area (you know, since they drilled it out).

On the other hand, I have found the slotted rotors to be a good balance of appearance and function as the slots allow the pads to "outgas" under heavy braking. The theory goes, under the higher load/friction, the heat build-up can effectively insulate the pad from the rotor surface, reducing friction. Less friction means less stopping power.
