Default Back window coming out

My back window started coming out. Got the new 3M window adhesive, cleaned the glass and top around the corners and reglued. It has been a week and looks like it is holding.

I used the 3M marine product 5200, several coats all around the perimeter, allowing each to cure well.
So far it looks great and is holding well.

I noticed my window coming out at bottom corners again. Cleaned and reglued. My bosses car is holding fine.

Had this happen to me before the top got replaced. Used Gorilla Glue....didn't look the best but held great for the six months that the top was on and that was through the rest of summer and the cold of winter. Took the dealership less than a week to get the top but three weeks to put in on because no one there wanted to tackle the job. I didn't really care because I had a loaner.

My window started to separate. I tried the glue on my wife's VW bug, it did not work after putting the top down and back up. I went to a car upholstery shop. He removed the glass and sewed in clear plastic. I don't have the rear defroster, but it was less than half of what a new top would have cost me.

I did my own repair with the 5200 by 3M and it is holding well. I seriously doubt it will come apart as I have used this in the marine trade with remarkable success. The trick is to flip the bow back up and put a 1/2" bead all the way around on the inside of the window as well as the outside.

I've noticed most say put a pillow in to press glass to canvas .. my edges roll out when I do this instead of laying flat to the glass.. so I got these to work with .. make up a wood bracket - pivot type brace to hold the canvas flat..

I had been reading all the complaints about the window coming loose but mine stayed tight and intact but one day I noticed just one corner edge coming loose, passenger side top so I really didn't have too much trouble since I didn't have to figure out how to hold it in place. If someone is to do a self repair it is best to catch it right away before the whole thing pops out. My car is a 2006 model that I bought new from the dealer in 2007 and so I've owned it for 7 years and when mine stayed in place, I figured I'd be one of the lucky ones, but that was not to be. The canvas top itself is in great shape so I'm glad I do not have to replace it because I figured the same thing would happen after a few years anyway.
