Roadster Wind Blocker
Anybody buy the Chrysler Windblocker yet? How well does it work? How easy to install? Picking up my car this week and I'm just making a list of the accessories I'll need. Thanks.
I just installed my Chrysler windscreen 3 weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to test it out yet... been too cold and nasty, cars in the garage. I really like the design, IMHO it's alot nicer than the aftermarket ones. Installation was pretty simple. Must drill 4 small holes to mount the bottom bracket (railing) that the windscreen slides into, but that's it. You will need a special crimping tool to install the 4 rivet-like mounting hardware in holes. I drilled the holes and then went to a local bodyshop that had a crimping tool, and the guy did it for me. It only took him about 5 minutes. The windscreen comes with a nice black zippered storage case, for when you want take it off. It is simple to remove... just unstrap the two velcro straps that wrap around the roll bars.
I added a CROSSFIRE logo (the design that's on the touring luggage tags) that has a etched glass look on the bottom half of the windsceen. Similar to the S2000 windscreen that has "S2000" etched in it... if you have seen that before.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

plus you get more noise from the windblocker shiking because it is a solid piece of plastic. I have the one from CTD Germany installed. Unfortunately it doesn't have the straps that the DC version does that gives some rigidity to the system by straping the plastic to the roll bars. It does cut about 30-40 % of the wind from the back. Unfortunately you still large amounts of wind from the side of the car. Oh How I wish the car had side wind vents like my fiat spider 2000 did.
Guys... the DC windscreen is actually very nice. The picture doesn't do it justice. As soon as I can get some assistance of how to post a few pictures I'll show you the one I installed on my roadster. It thicker PLEXAN is different than the after markets, plus as buckeyedad42 noted, it has the straps that secure it nicely. It is easily removable and when installed it sits in a rubberized channel the keeps it from making any noise. I don't think the DC windscreen is going to shake at all.
I'm not trying to talk you into anything... but IMHO it actually looks quite nice!!!
I'll try posting picture once I get assistance.

I like the windscreen but I do not like the black velcro straps that wrap around the roll bars. I know it is petty but I think that they should have did it so it matches the roll bar color so it doesnt stand out as much.
Go to: www.allantewindscreen.com/Crossfire.html and take a look at this windscreen. Its the lowest price on the market and made by a company that only makes windscreens for the Cadillac, Ford Thunderbird and the Chrysler Crossfire.
Had a German CDS (?) windscreen purchased via MyRoadster. Did not like it one bit. It vibrated and rattled, so when the Factory one came out, It's great, I did not install the bottom piece, just strapped it on. No rattles, no dash reflection and works great.

Don't rivet the bottom bracket into the car as instructed. As Rob suggested many months ago, just get some industrial quality velcro at Ace Hardware and velcro it to the body. With the way you cinch down the glass with the straps around the roll hoops it'll be nice and tight and won't be permanently mounted if you ever choose to remove it. Its a really nice product and looks terrific.

I know this is going to ruffle some feathers...
BUT, with the windscreen in place, and some folks desiring window wings to control the air flow...I guess you have your windows rolled up also!!!
In my 65 years (50+ driving) and having owned 11 convertibles, I was under the impression that the purpose of a convertible was to enjoy the wind blowing from all directions and your hair (no matter how much you have) whipping in the breeze and just enjoying an overall feeling of freedom from the confines of an enclosed vehicle!!!
Apparently I was wrong...
it must be to be in a big bubble so you can see the sun easily...
