Default Has anyone gotten the garage door opener to work?

I have a Genie garage door opener. I tried to program the garage door opener in the center overhead console, using the instructions from the manual. For some reason, I can't get it to work. Anyone have luck with this.

LOVE MY XFIRE!

I have a Sears Garage door opener and mine works. One thing I had to do was on the opener itself there is a reset button that I had to press to clear other codes from other opener. Good Luck

Thumbs up Re: Has anyone gotten the garage door opener to work?

If you have tried the instructions in the manual with out success, you will have to use the secondary method in the manual.

1) Make sure the antannae on the opener motor is hanging down.

2) Make sure the car is directly under the or as close as possible to the antannae.

3) Clear all codes previously set.

4) You will have to use the "Learning/Reset" switch on the opener. It is usually at the back of the unit and can either be red, white or green. Then follow instruction in the manual.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll give the secondary method a try this evening. Not having the ugly genie remote on the visor is definitely worth getting this working.

Yup, garage door openers are rotating frequency and you have to "press" the learn button on the unit. I've never had a problem with the garage opener but the front gate was a stinker to get programmed. If you still have trouble the HomeLink web site has very detailed instructions.

I've gotten it to work with two different houses/garage opener types with the first method. Good luck!!

Thanks everyone. I finally figured it out, duh. The important part for my garage door opener (Genie) was the final two steps. Mission accomplished.
