I am about to place the order for a new top next week to replace the original black one with a window that has been (badly) repaired a few times.

I am going with a BAS top and am thinking about going with it in beige.

They were kind enough to send me a sample of the fabric so I can see the colour, and it is very light. I was looking at their "Camel" coloured one also, but (without a sample) it looks a little too brown for me.

I was wondering if anyone has installed, or seen, a red XF with a beige top on it?

BTW, I will also be installing matching seats, but I want to decide on the top before having the new seats upholstered.

I have not seen the combo you talk about. But I am a believer that the conv top or vinyl top color should always match the interior color.

There are people here clever enough to Photoshop what you are looking for...

My only dislike with a light colored top is that it tends to show dirt more easily
Ive never seen a beige top on a Crossfire but if that is what you like be the first to get one and show us your pics

I did some photo-chopping and have placed the order for the top in beige (I won't upload the PS images as I didn't use my own photos).

It's a 4 week lead time, which means I will be away when it arrives, but I will share pics once I have received it and installed it.

 

Well, I have received my new top and hope to install it either this weekend or next.


So... I know this has been asked and answered a million times, but which step by step guide is best to follow for the swap?


Any tips and tricks that aren't in the guide that I should take into consideration?

I think a beige top looks good with a red or green car and a saddle interior. I like to match the interior to the top color.

That is the plan. I picked up some SLK seats a while back (last year) and I intend to recover the interior to match the top.

I do not belong to any Facebook group, I can get into too much trouble here without some of the touchy souls on FB.

I picked up some SLK seats last year and am currently looking for some door cards, although I may just have the current cards recovered. I plan on doing just the seats and cards for now (when money permits) although I really like what SRT SIX did to his interior. I really like the seats, just in a lighter tone to match the top.






Now... I am still trying to find a decent how to for replacing the top. I understand that the manual shows the process but I have read that there are certain steps that are not covered (or not covered correctly).

 

Due to a trapped nerve in my shoulder, the replacement top sat in the box for a few weeks, until finally my father decided he would do it!


A few hours and a few choice words (mainly regarding weather strips ) and I now have a beige top on the XF.


I will try and take some better photos to post once I give it a clean, but here is the colour combination:
