I put them on the track of using the "Crossfire Documentation Collection", (thanks 180) an downloading the service manual for their roadster. CLP/SSM is the only conclusion I could get to. B said the anti tow sensor was hooked up. Different colors than my manual shows , but mines not a "ragtop".

I cant say for sure because the focus is 'out' a bit but the connector LOOKS as if it has some corrosion from water damage. This, plus the above statements, make me think you bought a car with water damage in the trunk area.

I'd forget where that plugs in for now, and tear the trim out of the entire trunk and inspect the modules on both sides of the trunk (top module, locking module, etc.) and see if they look like they are water damaged. If they are, you have way more issues than one connector not plugged into where it belongs.

Thank you everyone! The inside panel has a light that connects. We ordered used trunk interior and found the connector for the plug. Unfortunately that didn’t solve our problem with the top not open or close using the button.

I see that we focused on the trunk light, I now see that your original question was split into two parts by the photos.
Your main problem is the top not working. That should have been the main part of your question, a lot of time has been wasted on the trunk light.
I’ll leave that problem to the experts.
Until we figure it out, the top doesn’t work, doors don’t lock/unlock with fob, interior lights don’t come on when doors open, etc.

Thanks for your reply, but I am grateful for the help with the trunk light. I couldn’t move on with troubleshooting until the circuit was closed. This car has a few issues and I’m grateful for the vast knowledge of this group.

I do not see what the trunk light has to do with the top, but maybe I am misreading this answer.
Plugging in this plug does not close any circuit except the light circuit with the light ON, with the light OFF the circuit is not affected. Plugged in or not plugged in does not affect the interior light circuit at all, I currently have the equivalent light in my coupe unplugged and all the other interior lights work just fine.
Until we figure it out, the top doesn’t work, doors don’t lock/unlock with fob, interior lights don’t come on when doors open, etc.
Does this car have the security pump and the pump that operates the hydraulic cylinders in the roof mechanism? You said this car had parts stripped from the trunk.
Do you have a photo of the trunk area, not just the area for luggage.

Good one, Dave. Looks like I missed that.

I’ll try to get some photos tomorrow. I think they are both still there but I’m not 100% sure about it. Are they both on the left side of the trunk area?

Lift the carpet on the bottom of the trunk, take a picture of the components on the right side and the left side. Post so that the "experts" have an idea of what the problem might be. Lots of possibilites for top not operating, ----- some simple, some not so much.

The Top control module and pump are on the driver's side in the fender well.

The security system pump and controller are in the passenger side fender well.

Take out ALL trunk trim and you will see what you have.

We have a lot of photos of the stripped coupe trunk from various angles but none of the stripped roadster trunk that I can recall.
Start stripping your trunks, I mean the roadster trunk not your boxers.
