Grrrrrrrr!!!
So, i turned my roadster in today for a 3-4 day repair of damage done by a lady who backed into me without looking. I have been provided a Chevy Malibu for my rental.....wow, does the Chevy Malibu blow. Please hurry and fix my roadster Mall Chrysler, b/c the sun is shining and it's 70 degrees!!! aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
to top it off, the Ins. Co. (Liberty Mutual) wants the dealer to "skin" the door (ie: undo the robotic welds and replace only the outer skin of the door versus replacing the entire outer portion of the 2 piece door). A whopping cost savings to them of $400 on the part, and a likely $2-3K decrease in value to my vehicle as a result. I'm shining up my boots to do some *** kicking. My dealer told me he wouldn't think of "skinning" the door on a car like this, as there is no way the fit/finish will be close to that done by the multi-million dollar robots in the factory. i tend to agree. anyone else had this issue?

Not exactly the same but had an insurance company try to charge my Uncle for "betterment" after an accident that wasn't his fault. They reasoned that putting on a new rotor to replace the one damaged was making the car better and tried to surcharge him $125. This is the new gimmick in the insurance industry to pay less on claims. I believe Allstate got sued by the Attorney General in Texas and had to pay back the money to all the people they did this too. Good Luck and hang tough!
LOL! i've heard of depreciating older parts, but paying for "betterment"!!?? that's amazing. Insurance companies are the devil. they owe their allegiance to two masters, the stockholder and the policyholder, and you can't satisfy both. My letter i sent got a response today and they are basically very "apologetic" and said they'll pay for what the estimate is. we'll see. for now, i'm driving a freaking Chevy Malibu with the giddyup of a fat, dying pig. sunny all day and not even a sunroof to appease me. calgon, take me away!

Hope your fix is speedy!
Sorry to hear about your fender bender. But that's all it is and a good shop it should look as good as new don't accept anything less! These are vehicles, not pianos.
