3 things to check :
1. the divider switch in the trunk.
2. the "top released" switch in the frame just above the passenger's right ear.
3. The fluid level in the reservior in the rear driver's side fender well.

[QUOTE=Ironman32; I push the button Windows go down[/QUOTE]

I would also check the switch in the header above the passengers head the windows should go down when you unlatch the top not push the button.

The fact that there is no 'beep' bugs me.

Gotta think about that a bit..............

I had the same problem. My mechanic found the sensor that tells the system the trunk is closed need to be adjusted.

There is also a microswitch on the trunk latch that indicates the trunk is down and latched. The activation lever gets malformed over time as it is always under pressure. Remove the plastic cover on the underside of the deck lid and disconnect the 2 wire connector (brown wires if I recall), close the trunk and see if that solves the problem. The switch is reverse logic to me, (open circuit when activated) so if the wires are disconnected, the controller thinks the trunk is latched, therefore it is OK to lower the top. This is a common failure. I checked several latches from junk yards and they all were defective. Sad to say, there is no way to re-form the switch lever that I was able to come up with. If that is the problem, please re-post and I'll show the work around I came up with.

The micro switch that's in the back of the trunk I disconnected it and I wire the two wires together that didn't do anything

for whatever reason I do not see a micro switch on the trunk latch is there anyway I can get a picture of the micro switch the wires I connected were the wires for the micro switch that when you pull that cover up in supposed to get connected to make contact I hope I explained it properly

Better go read his post again - that is NOT what he said to do.
Wayne figured this out before any of us did.

  • hi guys here's an update on the convertible top not going down I had a gentleman come up from Miami to my house he was recommended on this forum .His name is Matt. When he removed the hydraulic pump there was water in the wheel well where the pump is located. It is bad so will be sending it out to Top Hydraulic for a rebuild. Thanks for all your help guys much appreciated Bob W. by the way Matt went over the whole car with some other issues he fixed and will be putting a new top on the car.
