I went from a 1999 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (which I loved) and even though this car has less HP - it still has some major cajones and gets me where I want to go pretty quickly. Every comment I've heard so far has been really complimentary - people really take notice of it!!! Glad I got it!

Nice car and congrats..I also think I have changed my opinion on the stock Crossfires wing...I think on the roadster yours looks better then the SRT's style...

Hi all,
Good for you gibsonjunkie. It’s gorgeous! Which trim level did you purchase? Now that you got a chance to go crusin' in your new “sports car”, what do you love about your Chrysler Crossfire? Is there any thing you would add or improve? Let me know, I love to hear comments from enthusiast’s.

Thanks

Kelly

Smile Re: Is the XF an Ugly car?

I have never enjoyed a vehicle as much as the Crossfire. So far, the only things I miss are fog lights (I have the base roadster) and a cupholder. I laughed when I heard all the complaining about the cupholder (which I don't have), but two days of picking up lunch at work (which means driving while holding a soda all the way back to work - with a 6 speed), tells me I will really miss it. I also miss the fact that the sun visors don't swivel. They are fixed at both ends. That will be a pain when the Sun is on the left side...Driving comfort is high and it tracks really well on the road. I spend a lot of time driving around the state and I know I won't tire of driving this car.

Style-wise I'm amazed at the attention paid to the car. Even the guy across the street just told me what a great car it is (he drives a Corvette).

I haven't figured out how to best mount my Radar detector - I prefer a "hard-mount" to the windshield -suction thingy. I will figure something out. The radio is just OK - I've seen better - but not in my 99' Mustang which is what I got rid of to buy this car. It is way better than the Ford radio.

These are mostly mild inconveniences... I'll report back more after I've had some quality time with it...

Oh yeah... a bit more of a pain - it is very easy to activate the cruise control when I don't want to - the stalk is way too close to the directional - but I assume I'll get used to it...

My only gripe about the design is the center mounted exhaust pipes. I think the rear-end would look much more aggressive if they had been separated and at opposite ends of the bumper (maybe an elongated oval shape). I just think it's overdoing the 'boat-tail' thing...sometimes I expect to see one of those silly little trailer hitch propellers in it's place...otherwise the exterior design is a 10 ;-)

...to be honest, I liked the rear and sides of the car, but was not initially crazy about the front end. Something was lost from concept to production in the grille, headlamps, and bumper. Long before I bought the car, when I saw one in the rearview, I saw the front of a squashed Pacifica smiling back at me with big, metal-hued egg crate grille. Or, maybe I thought that the front of the car was less Chrysler, and more Caddy, before the look became established as the new Chrysler brand identity. But, it has grown on me, and now I love every inch of the car. It's funny how electrifying performance can do that.

Hey guys,

Thanks you so much for your insights. There great! juddz and slide93, I’m glad to hear you feel this “electrifying performance vehicle is a 10”. Like I said before “I love to hear comments from enthusiasts”. It help’s us to create products that you enjoy.
I have heard this before gibsonjunkie, about the cup holders. Understanding your circumstances; I can see where cup holders would come in handy . I have an idea that may interest you. Here is a link to Chrysler’s Gift Gallery, http://www.giftgallery.chrysler.com/GiftGallery/. Here you’re able to purchase travel mugs, thermoses, tumblers, items with lids. Check it out!
You also mention the radio being “just OK”. Would you consider upgrading the speaker system? You can speak with your DCX dealership; they may have something to offer you. Hope this gives you ideas.

I’m here if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Kelly

Hi Kelly. Thanks for the information. I've got a great idea...How about you help out the poor saps (myself included) that paid sticker when the Crossfire first came out and now still owe more than it would cost to buy a brand new leftover 2004? I'd be happy with a free supercharger upgrade. If you could do that, I could promise to buy DCX for the rest of my life. Thanks.

....one of the most interesting styling details about the car is its high dash and door sills, and narrow gun slit windows. That, coupled with the wide tires (larger in back) and art deco detailing throughout, gives the car almost a chopped top hot rod feel. It's big time character, and makes every fwd sedan feel stodgy in comparison.

Would changing out the speakers provide better reception on the radio? or the fact that the cd skips everytime I hit a bump. Now I feel this is acceptable in a suzuki samauri or my original RHD Mini but not in a crossfire any comments before I take her in for service?

IMHO the infinity speakers are fine, it's the head unit that could use improvement. It has minimal features, is difficult to navigate with only the *****, and the read-ahead on the CD player does leave alot to be desired. Upgrade the head unit and you'll be much happier...most of the automotive press have complained about this factory head unit whether it be in the Crossfire or Porsche. About the only thing you can say about it is the green LED complements the instrument cluster nicely. I don't think true audiophiles are ever happy with OEM stereos, but maybe I just haven't found the right car yet.

That's just what I thought, I just put a nice head unit in my daughters Mercedes, guess its my turn. The main feature I want, is to be able to connect my I-pod mini silver to the system and to accent the dash. All her girlfriends think her new stereo is awesome and they all want to be able to connect their i-pods as well. Look what I started.

Hey Guys,

Onefortypointsix – lol, that is a great idea. If I were able to provide you with a “supercharger upgrade” I would! That, unfortunately, is out of my hands. But I do hope you will still consider DCX for the rest of your life! You have a Limited, right? Is it a Coupe or Roadster?

juddz, “makes every fwd sedan feel stodgy in comparison” I like it! Keep it coming.

Irafatsar, I agree with slide93, I don’t think the reception quality has anything to do with the speakers. When visiting your local DCX dealership, ask them to check the stereo’s reception, it could just be a loose wire somewhere along the line. Sounds like a fun trend you started!

I’ll be here if you have any other questions.
Talk to you soon

Thanks,

Kelly

Thumbs up Re: Is the XF an Ugly car?

I have a close family friend that was looking at the coupe, but I persuaded her to go for the roadster as I am a huge roadster fan. The roadster is a work of art. There is nothing else on the road like it, but as seems to always be the case, there will always be someone that doesn't like it. From my perspective, here's what I think...

I own a Honda S2000 (and I love my car), but it doesn't have the eye-catching detail that the crossfire has. I have had my car for several years, and sometimes I see a miata on the road and mistake it for an S2000. With the crossfire, that will never be an issue.

On a slightly different note, I am a community organizer for S2ki.com. The site has been up a running for many years and has about 40,000 members. As far as I am concerned S2Ki is a very developed site with a huge following, yet in all the years I have been a member, never have I had the privilege of having a representative from Honda come onto the board in an official capacity and ask for our opinions directly. Kelly, what a refreshing approach to doing business! While we know Honda watches our site, they never talk directly to us...

I'll see if I can get some pictures of our cars together and then you can see how striking your cars are compared to the S2000.

Hey geppetto,

I see you recently joined this Forum. Welcome!

Thank You, for your appreciation. I feel that we are privileged to be here. Having the ability to hear everyone’s comments and answer anyone's questions is great.

We love to hear from our enthusiasts, and that we have successfully mixed the correct proportions of performance, style and elegance to suit the tastes of the public.

When a member takes pictures of their “beauty”, and post’s it for one and all to see, it shows us that they are truly happy to be a crossfire owner. Can’t wait to see them!

Thanks,

Kelly

Kelly,

All I can say is that Chrysler is definitely doing some things right.
GM is dropping the ball and I am afraid they are in some real trouble.

Keep up the good work. (although, the Dodge Charger could have been a lot more retro, but surprisingly I am seeing them on the roads more often these days).

Thanks MI Roadster,

I’m so glad to hear you feel Chrysler is doing right! We did do a great job on the Chrysler Crossfire didn’t we? lol

Looking through your Gallery, I see your Roadster Lim. WOW! I love it!
I see you’ve had you’re Crossfire just shy of a year. How are things going with your beauty?

Talk to you soon.

Kelly,
Haven't had any problems with it. I still love it, and just put the 10th coat of wax on it!! It's so small, that I don't mind doing it if I can't take it out because of inclement weather and it's really shiny now! I just sometimes wish it didn't have to have premium gas in it because today it's just 7 cents away from $3 a gallon. But for me it's a toy car (not my daily driver) so I don't have to justify spending money on it!!

Just curious, what do you have in your garage?

Hey MI Roadster,

Good to hear everything’s well.

10 coats of wax! Shiny isn’t the word! lol

Well, as for my garage, right now I drive a non-DaimlerChrysler vehicle. However, putting in extra hours, I’m planning to purchase a Jeep Wrangler Sport. Something about that rugged look I love! Thank You for your interest and curiosity.

Talk to you soon.

Kelly

XF ugly? I don't think so, most people ignore ugly cars. For instance, ever see anybody pay attention to an Aztec? Actually I didn't care for the XF the first time I saw it in the flesh at the Detroit auto show. But after I drove past one in a car lot almost daily, it just grew on me. 5 months and 6,000 mi. later I have to say it's about the nicest car I've owned, and I've had few. I just got back from the Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise and got alot of favorable comments from the mostly classic car enthusiasts there. Remember, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and some people need glasses and don't know it".

You know when I appreciate the looks of this car most...when I wash it. Between the looks, the strange pedigree and the way this car is constructed (which I think is phenomenal especially at its price) I truly believe this car has "Classic" potential. More so than any other car I've owned (except maybe my '73 TR6 (that's already becoming a classic with premium cars pushing $25,000 when it sold for $4,000). Perfect Corvettes will always sell at a "Good" price and will probably always outperform a Crossfire but who wants to see yourself coming and going. On Long Island, NY they're a dime a dozen. We're driving something special. We should all appreciate it and enjoy them as they were designed, while we have them.
