Default help with convertible operation please

Hi,
I have a deposit on a beautiful 2006 Roadster Limited with 44k miles. I am waiting for a repair to be made to the convertible top operation but they cannot find the problem.

When you unlock the top D ring, you must hold the top up, it will not open the 6 or so inches to begin the automatic top-down procedure. The top will go down and operation is normal by holding the top up that 6 inches or so. The dealer recently replaced the top. They must have missed something.

Any ideas?

The side tension cables are disconnected or broken. They are available from topsonline.com. I just got a pair, haven’t installed them yet.

You took the car to a dealer. They performed lousy work. No big surprise, READ MY SIGLINE and do not EVER make this mistake again.
Replacing the top is easy, but dealers cant change oil, they sure can't handle a new top.

My top was replaced in 90 minutes, in a condo parking lot, by forum members. Yes, we did what a dealer can't do, in a parking lot, in 90F heat, in 90 minutes.
EDIT: Ok, fine, you are BUYING it from a dealer, I see that now. Ok, you just learned a good lesson: The car will NEVER go back to a dealer once you get it away from them!

JSK nailed it. I vote "not connected" cause the part-time "technician" was told he had two hours to do the job and had never seen a Crossfire before.

Stand by for my train of vulgarities.....................

Thanks, Pizza guy. I didn't bring the car to a dealer, I'm in the process of purchasing it. I have left a small deposit until the problem can be repaired. It is a small used car guy that sells imports and exotics. His mechanic is the person that changed the top. I plan on doing my own work.

Other than this repair the car is in great condition. I am trying to speed up the repair process. Yes, I have complete service history of the Crossfire and a Carfax report

Yea, I saw that, I edited my post.

But my blistering post, critical of all (new car) dealers stands.

I can certainly appreciate your view about car dealers. It's one of the reasons I joined this forum and do any work needed myself.

Get it for a much lower price and then get it fixed or fix it yourself. In the meantime you can do it manually.
