Default Bypassing the Divider Switch ("sensor")

Many here are WAY intimidated by even the simplest electrical/electronic tasks. At the same time bypassing a switch is something many Roadster owners must do when dealing with that AWFUL divider switch in the trunk. For those who need it, here is a pictorial of how you bypass the switch in the trunk.

Here is a switch, all wired up and happy. Lets bypass it.

As close to the switch as you can, cut both wires:

Use some wire strippers (or if you are skilled, a sharp knife if you are not on blood thinners):

Twist the wires together:

Grab a "butt splice" and put it on the wires, crimp it with crimpers or even some pliers:

You are done. Now, the divider switch in the trunk is harder than this, only because you will struggle to reach the wires, but other than that, it is this easy.
Here is my car, with the top UP, turn the D handle, pop the top, and hit the button long enough to raise the bow and lid as shown. The next photo is a closeup
of the area in the yellow box:

You can't see it, but the divider switch is being pointed out by the yellow arrow.
I've already cut the wires going to it, and the white arrow shows the two wires connected
with a 'butt splice'.

Going in like this is WAY easier than going in thru the trim in the trunk.
KEEP IN MIND, after about ten minutes, the pressure from the hydraulic system is released and the bow and lid will start to come down and interfere with one another.
Work fast or have a helper on the OTHER side of the car there to hold the bow and lid in place.

Once you are done, hit the button to CONTINUE TO LOWER the top so things stay synced. Once the pump starts and cylinders pressurize, you can hit the other end of the button and put the top all the way back up if you like. If the top suddenly refuses to move and the pump wont' start, you lost sync. Do the procedure to re-sync the top and you are good to go.

And remember, to re-sync the top, just put the top up and down manually, two or three times, completely. (That means you need a hex key for the bow latch in the trunk.)

Complete procedure is explained in this old video:

You are going to confuse the heck out them showing a toggle switch. They will look and never find it...

That was the reason for the last two pictures.
