Default I should be alarmed???

Walked out to my 06 roadster today and hit the fob to unlock. Nada. OK battery in fob must be dead. Unlocked door with key. Put key in ignition and turned to start. Nada. No crank whatsoever. Recycled and tried again. Nada. This time all displays went grey. Trunk locked. Console locked. Just recently replaced car battery and alternator. Alarm DID NOT go off. Hmmmm. Strange I thought based on reading about fobs and no-starts. This is my first post. I'll get better. Any wisdom, guidance or direction would be appreciated. I don't know where to start, frankly.

This happened to me recently but the car would start and then turn off right away.

I had to change my FOB battery disconnect car battery for a few minutes then lock and unlock with FOB before it started again.

I also didn’t have the alarm go off

I also have an ‘06 roadster

Have you both disconnected the alarm siren under the front owl? The internal batteries go bad, short out and drain the car battery?

My car started back up no issues once fob battery was changed and I had disconnected battery for 5 min and reconnected. Lock and unlock with FOB.

Thanks guys. I may have been spooked and overthought this. The fob could be the culprit and I didn't think it would be so integral. I still had the key so I figured I'd still be able to start it. Then go and get a new fob bat. Wrong. I'll first try the other fob to see if it lights up. The alarm siren must be disconnected as I'm gone often and my condo association might not like it blaring for hours while I'm away. That really scares me. Is it hard to do?

So the car's battery is dead or nearly dead.

Just recently replaced car battery and alternator. .
WHY? Sounds like the car did not need a new battery and alternator, what was needed was someone to find out what was draining the battery.

The siren unplugs easily - it's under the trim below the wipers, just next to the passenger's wiper cam.

The battery actually was old and shot. Just after replacing it the alternator failed. One weird thing. When I first put the key in ignition I checked the clock and time was right. When I recycled and tried a second time to start the car the digital displays all went grey and both the center console and trunk locked down. Thanks for all of the feedback.

The FOB batteries going dead in no way has anything to do with the car not starting. Only thing those batteries do is lock/unlock (car working properly), or set the siren off (IF the siren is there and working properly).

It was worth repeating, got it?

I am only sharing what happened to me.

I was under impression that it affects the SKREEM. So maybe it wasn't because the fob was dead but it was related.

Also getting off topic my car is fine. The original poster seems to have a different issue.

I only posted because so many owners have a misconception that the key FOB batteries are need to communicate to the car to 'start' the car. About your FOB batteries, make sure they are inserted in the correct way and please be careful you do not damage the positive tab (the tab that comes up the side touching the POS case of the button cells). Too many members have bent/broke those and had to replace the case (which sometimes resulted in the little chip located in the bottom front of the FOB being lost). If that chip isn't transferred into a new case the car will not start (unless the SKREEM is bypassed by one of a few who have figured out how and provide a service to do so for a fee). Good luck with your issue!
