Default 06 Convertible top problems

It's not mine, it's a rental and I can't get the top to come down. After I manually open the 8" gap, the system doesn't automatically bring it down when I press the button, it just beeps and beeps. Help!

It's too bad that there isn't an info center to let you know why the car is beeping, it's not always easy to figure out that's wrong.
That same thing happened to me. Jess is right. Make sure the separation panel in the trunk is snapped in correctly. Good Luck.

Well yes, the divider was down, I went ahead and snapped it up into its place. The top still won't go down. This car only has 800 miles on it, and let me ask, what's the point of the button on the handle for the top? The first time I tried it the button fell out, spring and everything. I'm still able to separate it but the auto won't pick it up.

Also make sure the trunk is securely closed. Slam it good.

If its a rental, go back to the place you are renting it from and have them trade you out in another if that one's top is not working right...problem solved...

Cool Re: 06 Convertible top problems

Since it is a "rental" the person who had it last must have screwed up the top. Take it back to the rental company, and get a new one if available.

Well we weren't supposed to get one to begin with, my girlfriend had crashed her car and her insurance is paying 80% of the rental and there was nothing else available. I think it's the only one they have.

Take it back and have them show you how to put the top down. If it doesn't work for them, they'll know there's a problem. If they can't fix it and they don't have a different car you want, ask for a discount. Not sure if they will give you one, but it's worth a try. A roadster with the top up just isn't the same. Too much field of vision blocked.

The trunk divider has to be locked in place on both sides. It can be sensitive. Another sensor that will prevent the top from going down is the spoiler. If that has been manually raised, that will prevent the top from operating as well.

The spoiler is always up on my Roadster Limited, and does not cause any interference with my top going up or down.
