Now it sounds like we're getting somewhere. Hurry him up, I need to buy some goodies. Can't wait to see what else you'll come up with.

Just wondering, do you launch with or without the traction control on? I've done a couple practice launches with and without the traction control on, I've found it mainly depends on what the road surface is like as to how the car grips from a dead stop.

Hey NeedsWings -
How's the intake coming?
What's next on the list? Exhaust?

You need to chat with mbepic about his exhaust. Duals all the way back with twin resonators, no muffler. It sounded great, not overly loud or obnoxious.

Oh yea...nice job on that pass!

i pulled up to the water box, turned off trac control, put the car into 1st, held down the brake with left foot, WOT on the car, it will spin up thru 1st and into 2nd, then once the rev's hold in 2nd i let go of the brake and pull out of the waterbox (let go of the gas once your past the water). pull up to the light, turn trac control back on, put car in 1st, hold brake with left foot, give car just a little gas so the car si ready to lurk forward (before the tires break loose). once the 3rd light comes down lift left foot (brake) and WOT the gas, was cutting consistent high 1.9's for me, definitely not the best launch btu thats my technique (working on getting some stickier rubber under the car now).

went back to the track on sunday with the new intake on the car, here is the skinny...

stock times from a few months ago when the car was bone stock...
norwalk raceway in ohio (private rental, track had decent prep).
runs in order
13.57 - 107.3
13.94 - 106.4
13.71 - 106.5
13.83 - 106.7
14.01 - 106.9
13.78 - 106.8
14.07 - 106.7
13.95 - 105.3
14.05 - 106.8
14.05 - 106.9
13.28 - 106.3
13.52 - 106.6
13.74 - 106.9
13.70 - 107.0
13.23 - 107.6
13.86 - 106.9
13.04 - 108.1
13.20 - 106.5
13.22 - 107.1
13.57 - 105.2

then we went to lapeer dragway this past sunday (not nearly as nice of a track, prep wasn't very good, mud everywhere) with just the new intake added to the car.
13.25 - 108.3
13.11 - 109.81 - new best mph
12.97 - 109.3 - new best ET
1/8 mile bracket, dialed in a 8.48
8.47 - 89.9 i broke out but other lane red-lighted (quickest 1/8 of the day, too bad i didn't get a chance to run it out thru the 1/4)
8.50 - 90.4 (knock out of eliminations by 0.069 sec, was a $1,600 purse too)
back to test n tune
13.05 - 108.8
12.98 - 109.7
12.99 - 109.4

the car was way more consistent and was pulling strong, the supercharger whine is very apparent now. i'm very pleased with picking up a consistent 3 mph thru the traps. i'll be at a track rental next tuesday at milan, if anyone want to come racing let me know and i can get you an invite. dyno coming soon.

now for the intake...
as-it-comes, polished, or powdercoated aluminum?

Does this intake require the removal of the... Engine Cover? Second what price are you looking at? And lastly I Vote Polished or Powdercoated Red.

I think I'd have to see it first before saying which.
I tend to like a 'satin' type finish myself, which would be more like the powdercoated aluminum I presume.

Excellent times BTW.

Hhhmmm, maybe I was being a bit too optimistic, but I was hoping for a little more than 7 Hundreds and 1.2 MPH. I'm probably still down for one though. Any pics?

Very Nice!! Now it all depends on the install and the price for me. If everything looks good, I'M IN!!

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but I've seen as good or better times
posted for Stock SRT-6 on dragtimes.com. I'm not sure that I can in any
way, at this time, see where your intake is an improvement. I'm more
inclined to feel that you are just getting better launches as you've had
better practice. I'm not sure if I'm recalling correctly, but I believe I saw
a stock SRT-6 listed on dragtimes.com with a 12.98. However, I'll continue
to monitor this thread, and if it looks like you are making a real
improvement, I'll be ready to buy.

its finished for the most part, well almost, its at the mandrel bender now getting made out of one solid piece of aluminum instead of 5-6 pieces welded together, i will be contacting a few guys to try them out a review them in a week or 2 (when the mandrel bender is finished bending them). it should perform much better due to it not having 4-5 weld rings in the pipe at every bend and im pretty much done picking out the filter to use with it, it will be 3" cai (filter behind the grill) with a k&n filter. i was very pleased with the track results (averaging out the before/after runs it made a big improvement) and feel it is a worthwhile product to go forth with investing in the production/dyno.

we went out to milan dragway with the car last night, i let the fiancé drive the car and she knocked out a stack of 13.0's while hotlapping (to make sure i took myself out of the equation - don't tell her that, lol).

the initial batch of intakes will most likely be polished aluminum but i'd like to try and get some powdercoated srt6 body colors, does anyone have the paint codes for the 3 colors other then black?

here is a sneak peak for ya, the engine cover DOES go back on but i think it looks kinda goofy on without the factory intake system there to complete the engine smothering.

Well, I still want to be one of the first. I've got cash in hand... It's between your intake, Evosport Intake Spacers and Alcohol/Water Injection as to the first $$$ I spend on her...

Got an ETA yet?
