Question about SRT-6 in Autotrader
OK, here is a tough question. There is a car listed with a dealer that handles salvages, and the SRT-6 Convertible is showing 9 miles and appears to have the February 2007 'in service' warranty date of all the recent Chrysler SRT-6 auction sales. It is on AutoTrader at:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=&cardist=601
as well as their site (along with other SRT-6's with under 50 miles).
So here is the question, the VIN shows no use or registration in any systems (CARFAX, Chrysler Dealer's Online Warranty shows 1 mile in February, no flood in National Insurance Bureau). The price is $28,900 which is the best I've seen for an SRT-6 Convertible with such low miles and a warranty (if in fact it is valid). I called and the dealer said it doesn't have floor mats (a concern since it could indicate water damage), etc. but otherwise is in 'new' condition. It was represented as 'new' and the title supposedly doesn't have any
branding, meaning the title appears clean and has not been issued. Can a title be clean but the car be a problem, particularly flooded, without any records? Any thoughts on this one?
Thanks for any thoughts, opinions or experiences. I like the car but the dealer is not helpful and is pretty evasive which is concerning. It is in Miami so it isn't close at all for a drop-by inspection.

The listing specifically states that "ALL VEHICLES ARE SOLD IN AS IS CONDITION AND WITH SALVAGE TITLES." If you peruse eBay, you can find similar SRT6's with very low mileage at a similar price but with virtually all of the three year factory warranty remaining. So why take a chance with a "salvage" title instead?
Yes, I would agree but this one supposedly is clean. If you go to their site they have quite a few of the SRT-6 and Limiteds with low mileage (under 50). Would they all be salvage?

Their AT listing also states:
"This car has a Title and shows No Damage damage. The definition of Title means: Is a title that has no branding of any kind. "
At least sounds like it's legit - might be worth having it inspected before buying.

Agreed that it could be legit and is worth inspecting, but what exactly is a "no branding title" with no warranty for a vehicle with only nine miles? Something sounds suspicious...
I think This company you speak of usually deals with salvage cars but the srt-6's are new. The company probably picked the cars up at an auction that also had salvage cars.
Call them up but I'd bet that they are all new.

...the missing mats don't mean anything (they're probably in the back of the trunk)...
but spend a couple extra grand and get one with a warranty.
No warranty is the BIG red flag to me.

The original post says "The price is $28,900 which is the best I've seen for an SRT-6 Convertible with such low miles and a warranty" [empahsis added]. I would assume since the individual posting the question has already spoken to the dealer, he has more facts about the car than anyone merely posting a reply.

All the facts in the post said go buy this car. But the post was hesitant.
I went to the site and saw cars with and without warranties.
As-is means no warranty to me.
The original poster raised some issues about the dealer.
I think this experienced dealer is well aware of what he writes in his ads.
I would get the warranty in writing.
Wikipedia defines "No Branding" as a clear title. A "branded title" is one which has been annotated with Flood, Theft, Salvage, etc.
I appreciate all the comments. Assuming this car was OK, what do you all think of the price of $28,900 for an SRT-6 Roadster? Not many of these left with such low miles. The next ones in Autotrader are (asking price) around $33,900.

I paid $32,300 for a black SRT-6 roadster with the 7 warranty and 200 miles delivered to my door.
They detailed and replaced everything I asked.
That was Memorial Day, and it was the best price I saw at the time.
If it's apples to apples I think that is an excellent price and I'd take it.
You will dig this car.

Short answer - good price - great car - if you feel froggy - leap...
Longer answer - A good price - great car - if you feel froggy - leap I would... (actually, I did, but for a "new" (2005 SRT-6) coupe in OH (several $K cheaper, but not a roadster-kind of "what's the point of a roadster this far north - at least to me))...you can't beat the bang/performance for the buck ($). If you want a rare coupe or roadster that has truly unique performance and styling - leap...if not, go buy a Mustang GT - similar performance, same price and brand new (and everyone will be able to say "I have/had one of those"...hmmm)...

See this eBay listing as a typical example of a "used/new" SRT6 with a full factory warranty from 2/27/2007. There are more like this one out there, too.
