Default Missed shift - ever happened to you with autostick?

While leaving my storage unit a few weeks ago (1/2 mile straight paved private road, flat as can be), I decided to lay into the SRT a bit. I had the car in 'D' as I punched in the code to the gate. The gate opened, I rolled through, then nailed it while shifting the car to '1' at the same time.

I believe that right around the time it was going to down-shift itself into 1st gear, I ALSO hit the shifter trying to get it into 1st. When I did this, the car pretty much went to neutral and hit the rev limiter for a split second until I got out of the gas and hit the shifter again.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? I could see it happening at a light or somewhere if a car pulls up to you which you dont suspect to be a potential competitor. You take off leisurely (in 'D') and the other car guns it. So, instinctively you drop it to 1st at the same time you floor it - then it free revs?

Just wondering if it has ever happened to anyone else. I was under the impression that this thing was pretty flawless in design and 'idiot proof'.

I tried to make it happen again, and it wouldn't do it.

This was before the Sprint Booster, for the record.

That has not happened to me. But I don't drive like that. I usually put it in 1 if I am at a complete stop.
It was probably just something that happened between auto/manual mode and hitting the gas. Unless it starts to occur often, I would not sweat it.

The car launches better if you put it in 'D' to prevent wheel spin, then quickly drop it in 1st.

As far as having time to shift, you don't have to - it should shift itself.

It has only happened once...
