Default Dyno Results with A/F ratio...

So how smart is the Benz ECU? Smart enough! The car's A/F was running conservative! And there is about 20 RWHP to be gained with a good tune.

As you will see with my attachments the car is around 12.5@3,500 and goes down to 11.60-12.0 close to redline! She was protecting herself all along. I had a GUT feeling the car was running nicely but this takes that little monkey off my back.

The tune was done on a mustang dyno (which are known to be very conservative) shown in the link below...
http://totalpowerperformance.com/dyno

I made 291 HP and 286 TQ on my first run and little less on the second. The tuner said on a dyno jet it would read around 350ish on both sides. So ASP was about right on the 20-25 RWHP gain after you consider the intake.

Whew! That is good news. Glad the factory fuel injectors were big enough to handle the new load! That should be all anyone needs to know before taking the plunge, even without an ECU tune.

Thanks for being the pioneer on this.

You are my hero! LOL. Damn I like your style. Waste no time and just get stuff done. Well that clears that mystery up. Where did you take your readings from? Pre cat is best, tail sniffers can sometimes read lean, but with your A/F numbers it looks like there is nothing to worry about. Thanks again for being such a pioneer on this.

Nice results...what did they charge your for your runs? There are three shops around me with dynos, and they are around $60 for 3 runs with A/F metering.

Also, isn't there a 'trick' to dyno'ing these cars? I thought I remember a certain way to do it...could've been on the base with the 6 spd though...

Here are some good reads for Dynojet vs Mustang dyno
(and you can relate with the Z06's)

Thanks for going out there on a limb for the forum. Most of us can't afford to blow the motor on our SRT's. I don't drive mine much but I wouldn't consider modding it, before the research you've done existed. Now it's on the list after my Nova is done. I would like to paypal you $5 bucks. I know it's not much but if everyone here does it, then it may add up quickly. You deserve it whether you need the extra cash or not. Heck if this story was printed in a magazine you bet each one of us would cough up $5 bucks real quick to get our hands on it. I think most here are more comfortable with this mod then doing the methanol injection. Your reliability has to be alot safer as well. Then if you do have to get service then in 1 hour you put back the factory stuff and warranty away. It's a great solution to the 12's. I'm hoping to go to the track this weekend and get a baseline. If any are in AZ, a car club from scottsdale is renting the track this Saturday and I hope to get a little respect for our cars. It's stock, but I'm hoping for a low 13. The group is www.scottsdaleexoticcarclub.com and they are going to race at www.speedworldmotorplex.com. It's worth the $45 entry fee just to watch some of those cars.
Thanks again for your hard work,

Cruzinquick

Thanks for doing all the leg work for us. Next time we have a chicagoland meet i will be buying you a few beers. Those A/F numbers look to be right in line. And no doubt the mustang dyno produces lower numbers. Great Job.

They actually drilled a hole in my exhaust before the cats and put a sensor in. After the test they sealed it. They also put one in the tailpipe.

The car is definetly capable of low 13's high 12's stock. Don't worry about the paypal. It is really my pleasure to be the first to try things out especially when they turn out to be so successful! I lived in Peoria AZ for 6 months...nice area!

It was 90 because they had to drill into the exhaust for 2 runs. And there is a special way to dyno these cars...you have to take out fuse 17 and 18 on the drivers side under the hood and put the car in 4th gear for the pull. Rob at "needswings" gave me that info...

NeverEnough - I've applied, so we'll see if our SRT-6's are exotic enough. I think it's rare enough, I think RPM had SSB Coupe SRT-6 at like 300 total. It would be an honor for our car to share company like that. At least I think we can take the Cayman's on there. I'm changing my oil and getting ready, I'm going either way. With those mods, it would sure turn a few heads.

Chi-Town SRT/6 - Peoria is a only a minute or two going 155 mph from Surprise. Too bad we have lots of traffic now. 6 months wasn't long, were you with one of the baseball teams? They don't stay very long either. If your ever out this way again, pm me and I'll buy you dinner. Thanks again for the research.

One of the club members just got a Bugatti Veyron, now that's just sick money. That's on top of the 2008 Lambo Murcielago, MB McLaren, Lambo Gallardo and who knows what else is in his garage. I hope it shows up at the track. If it does I'll try to post a pic or video.

No, but I lived with all the ballplayers in a gated community. I actually used to own several businesses in the sun city area. I sold them off to my cousin and moved back home after my dad passes away suddenly.

My shop was on 107th and Grand.

I don't know if a Dynojet vs a Mustang Dyno would net you a extra 60 whp. I dyno'd on a Dynojet and put down 290 whp 100% stock. A mustang vs dyno usually is 20 whp lower on average... though the extra 60 whp would explain the drop of .7th in the 1/4 mile.

Glad that you did the check on the a/f's I would probably want to keep them around mid 11's just for the longevity of the engine as a whole.
