LOL! I live in Racine, WI and was stuck in the same storm, although we got a bit more snow. My wife and I were out about noon and thought we'd be home before it broke. There was just a dusting on the ground and the car was all over the place with the traction on all the time. About an hour later there was 2" of snow and I decided to take her out on the streets of my condo complex and see what was what. Every time it stopped, it was stuck, and I have the best all-around rated all seasons on the market on her for the winter. With the new wheels the rear track is no longer square with the front though, so that was contributing to the problem, drive wheels having to plow snow the fronts haven't packed yet. I ordered spacers last night to correct that problem. Along with that I'm going to add some ballast over the rear axle. We'll see what happens. Along with the quote above, I took my VR6 GLI jetta out a bit later with Dunlop Wintersport M3's, TCS, ESP, and a six speed and blew the doors off all the suv's and trucks in 5" of snow. It's funny watching the VW crush the XF when it's yours, but would be a bit depressing if it were your neighbor's. My boss got pissed last year when his truck was stuck in a foot of snow we got during work and my jetta blasted out of its parking space, through a 3' drift and proceeded to tow his truck out.

A corvette and me were having a little fun yesterday on a local snow covered boulevard...neither of us could really move anywhere. Probably the only time a ford explorer is gonna take a corvette and a crossfire off the line!

Chi-Town SRT6,

Well you know how tough we have it right now in our neck of the desert. We did get a flash flood yesterday that left an inch of "RAIN". The nice part is that made today a great day with a high of 64 degrees. Someone had fun at the track today. Ran a best 13.28 @ 106.20 and made it to the finals in the gambler bracket race. I lost to a whipplecharged V6 2003 toyota pickup. Not stock, but sure looked the sleeper part. Got me on the line, he had drag radials and it helped. I ran him heads up and got him. I'll enjoy this winter for all you guys, and if you decide to move here give me a call. It's hot in the summer but we have night races.

Thumbs down Re: Pulley/Intake/Tune in the snow review...

Its good to have the awd pacifica in the garage too!i spent 26 years in the roselle area. So i consider myself an experienced snow driver, and last year, on business in chicago, i felt like a 16 yr old kid trying to drive my roadster on icy streets. I was glad to make it home in one piece. The crossfire does many wonderful things, but winter transportation is not one of them. Btw it was top down, 68 and sunny here in arkansas yesterday. Sorry about that.

It's really all about the tires. I've had a Ford Crown Vic that was useless in the snow because it had Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires on it (which are crappy in ALL weather conditions). I've put blizzaks on a Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, and it went like a dream in deep snow all day long, with 500hp, and no weight over the rear wheels.

Honestly, I'm very impressed with how my crossfire drives in the snow, and I'm sure there are even better winter tires than the Continentals that are on the car right now. Usually "All Season" tires are terrible in the snow, so I'm shocked that these perform as well as they do.

Light on the dash seemed like it was on all the time!
But I agree I have summer tires KDW'S on...so I knew it would happen.

Last winters last snow fall I ran the PS2'S and it wasn't that bad and then was like two inches...it was the second day I had the car andf I made it to work and back no prob...of course slow and timing lights there and back.
I think if we switch to Blizzaks it might be a different story?

I see you modified your claim of "fastest SRT6" with "unless it's snowing". I was going to ask how you could claim that at 9 MPH? Mine goes a lot faster than that, but I haven't had it out in this weather. I took my banker for a fast ride that Saturday morning and was able to spin the tires from 40. I've left it sit in the driveway since then. Hope the weather clears up so I can get it out when my son comes home for the holidays.

It is all about the tires. I about wrecked the Talon the other day. 1st time in snow with it. AWD means the whole car shifts to the feft when you take off, No ABS, as soon as I would hit the brakes it would slide. Had to use engine breaking, and power through to turn. Once moving, it was great, all you had to do was give it a little gas and the car would correct itself. Get into the boost though, it would instantly spin. Has brand new "summer" tires on it. BF Comp TA's. Getting a set of Blizzak's. As for the Corvette, oil changed, fresh coat of Zymol, battery tender hooked up, and cover is on.

I finally got to my neighborhood and got stuck on a small hill and had to put it in reverse and go another way just to get home.

So there you have it folks...the SRT/6 with all those mods is one of the fastest cars out there in the summer and the SLOWEST one out there in a snowy winter! LOL.

Looks like i'll be getting me ANOTHER winter beater this year...
That's what I feared would happen to our car on the snow. I'm glad you and your Crossfire made it home safely.

Mine was at the dealership Saturday during the day, and I picked it up around noon, just as freezing rain started. At last count, Tulsa now has 240,000 homes without electricity. The hospitals are running on generators, and the airport just got power. I spent this morning at the Tulsa Air National Guard base (which also does not have power), prepping my squadron's vehicles for emergency disaster relief deployment. The town is nearly silent. When I walk outside in my pitch black neighborhood, I hear what sounds like far off gunfire, 360 degrees around me, as snapping tree branches break the silence. It's eery.

Somehow, Oklahoma State University's Tulsa campus did not lose power. So today I'm in my office, staying warm and enjoying the forum. It looks like the Crossfire won't be leaving the garage for a few weeks.

Good luck to everyone affected by this wicked weather. Stay safe!

We had a big snow storm yesterday. Coincidentally, I had my pulley and CAI install at the same time. I took it out this noon to "test drive" it. If you have a clear area the acceleration is breath taking. If you don't have a clear area, it is even more breathtaking!

I took it back to the garage and told them I would pick it up tomorrow when the roads should be in better shape.

The Conti's aren't worth a damn either.
