Dyno Time
Well I just got off the phone with Ross @ Dynosaur. Dyno time is at 10am this Saturday morning.
Dyno 1. My car with the stock air assembly
Dyno 2. Stock air assembly with K & N's installed
Dyno 3. BDJ's Racing Cold Air Intake assembly with DEI wrap
We will be giving each set up around 20 mins to cool down while swapping parts. We will do 2-3 runs per setup and about 2-3 minutes between runs. I believe the dyno is a Dyno Jet 1200, with a 1500whp chip in it. It is in ground as well.
Does anybody locally have a NeedsWing or any other intake they want dynoed, I would be more than happy to do it. I know there is not much time from now till then, so it would probably have to be a local. My car has rear cats deleted, resonator deleted, and Ported Throttle Body. NO ECU OR PULLEY.
I would like to keep this thread clean untill the dyno time please. If you woud like to see a special dyno run done, give me the details on it, or if you would like to come out and watch, feel free.

btw, does our car require anything special on the dyno, like a M3 does?

I understand you will need to pull fuses 17 & 18 to disable traction control so you can hit the rev limiter.
I would like to see a Needswings dyno pull on a stock SRT that has not had an ECU tune.
Good luck.

BDJ, can't wait to see the results. One question, can you Dyno without the DEI wrap. Do you think it will make that much of a difference? I like the look of your system, I would think the DEI wrap would look pretty ugly
under the hood. Just a suggestion!!

Ronco, the heat wrap is mainly going to benefit on actual roads and highways, it wont matter much on the dyno. I personally saw the header wrapped intake and it looks hardcore. I didnt think id like it either but its grey in color not that ugly tan color of most heat wraps. He did quite a nice job and i doubt hes going to unwrap all that hard work. Im not sure he has any more intakes built yet to dyno instead.
Please let us know now if the header wrap is something thats going to be everyones excuse as to why his intake makes more power, which im confident it will. Last thing we need after he spends his time/money on dyno pulls is to post numbers and have to hear everyone say that some/all of the gains had something to do with header wrap not the design.

Hey 240M3SRT could you go over to the "Cold air shoot out" thread and address some of my concerns. I've posted a few things that I would like clarified if possible. Thank You
240M3SRT,I was more concerened about asthetics not performance. If you go back to all my threads, I believe I've shown the most positive interest in this design.
Temp out side was 45 degrees, 32 psi of rear tire pressure and 28% humidity.
Mods are ported stock airbox, ported and polished throttle body, rear cats deleted, resonator deleted, and 275-35-19 Nitto 555 tires.

Brian,
Those look like some great numbers. I can't wait to get back to the track to see how mine runs now. I bought BDJ's first intake and I can't believe the difference it has made. Everything looks great from a fit and finish point of view. It seems very well made. After getting those restrictors out of the rad support, the rest of the install is a breeze. I'm going to wrap my intake like Brian did, but I'll be doing something a little different before wrapping. I'll do a good write up about what I'll be doing after I see how it comes out. I think the look of the twin tubes wrapping around the engine makes it worth getting, and the added 25+ hp to the wheels is a huge bounus. It's been in the mid 80's here all week. I can't wait till it cools off some to go for a few nightly drives to be able to really enjoy it.
For what it's worth, this intake has my endorsement.
