My car frustrates me!!!
I raced my friends NSX back when I was stock. He beat me several times because I believe my supercharger would not engage. The car would barley go anywhere until I gained some momentum and went into the next gear then I would start pulling back on him. One race it actually engaged when I punched it and I pulled him pretty good.
I later read that the SC wont engage above 3k, since I was in manual mode I thought I might have been above 3k and possibly my problem. So tonight we met again.
This time I decided to leave it in drive and see what happens. He immediatly would put two cars on me, while mine just seemed to not go anywhere. 2 secs later it finally kicked down a couple gears and I was pulling back on him hard and eventually passing him pretty quick. The whole delay really frustrated me. I don't know what the deal is. I love my car but I never know if the power is gonna be there when I hit or if I'll be left sitting still like a chump.
I don't know if it is the the IC pump(working on replacing that), IAT sensor(couldn't get the dealer to replace it or the pump), the drive by wire( did the throttle reset earlier in the night, not sure if I did it right). All I want is to experience that exhilarating burst of power EVERYTIME I hit the gas without any delay!!
So I am going to do the intercooler pump upgrade here soon and see if that helps. Is ther anyway I can check the temp sensor myself?
Can anyone confirm the 3k engagement limit? I would like to know if there is a relay somewhere that could be controlled with a switch to keep the SC engaged all the time for sportier driving. I'd like to have it locked and loaded when I hit the gas and not have to worry about my RPMS being to high or any sort of delay. I just wonder if the ECU would protect the engine if IATs did by chance became too hot?
I guess that is all for my midnight rant!

Here ya go, do some reading... Perhaps it will get rid of your frustration...

thanks for the links. I guess I misunderstood that article last time I read it. After reading it this time it seems the supercharger engages automatically at 2800rpms if the conditions are right but the bypass valve stays open until you go WOT correct? That would leve me to believe my problem is one of the other things I mentioned. Thanks again.

Did you try to reset your throttle before you guys race....this car learns your habits and adjusts to it so if you feel a lag before it kicks in it could be that and for a quick fix you can reset your throttle,,,there is a post on here somewhere on how to do it.

Also most who puchased the sprint booster says it solves the lag problem permanently

Once my engine transplant is complete, I'm going to be installing a manual on/off switch, only because the engine management system (Motec) does not have the capability of triggering the clutch at a given RPM like the OEM ECU does. Let me rephrase that, The added option of having the MOTEC trigger the SC clutch is another $1,000 +/- and I don't want to spend the money on something that I can wire a switch for $10...
I don't know how the OEM ECU would react (throw a CEL, etc.) if you bypassed the system and installed a manual switch, but it's really easy to do.... Might be worth experimenting on....
yeah I see there is a wiring harness right next to the clutch. It would be easy to tap into that with a seperate relay and switch. I just read this thread about LET doing a TT setup for the C32

If they are able to force the turbocharged air passed the disengaged SC then that might inspire me to pursue a rear mounted turbo setup. I would think to bypass the SC clutch you could just pull the plug and if need be possibly place a resistor across the terminals to trick the ECU?

I just got my srt back from the dealer.First they replaced the S/C, that did not fix the problem. Then they replaced the intercooler, still a problem. They then changed the temp sensor and everything works great. They said the S/C was shutting off when the IAT sensor reaches 170-210 degrees. If you are still under warranty I would reccomend to keep taking it back to dealer and get the rental car.The cost of rental and service will add up .And it will be better for them to just change the I/C and temp sensor.
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

I'm going to do this right now.

This makes for a very constricted path.

I have an Eaton M112 SC and it would be very restrictive to pull air through if it were stationary, hadn't even imagined it as possiable, I wonder if the SC on the SRT/AMG engine is different.
