What he said. I bought one of the early Crossfires in 2003; traded it for the SRT-6 in 2005; and haven't looked back since. Yes, we all have significant issues with Chrysler service for a car that really isn't a Chrysler, but that's true for other brands too. For design, performance and price, nothing can beat the Crossfire.

I first read about the SRT6 in 2004 in CD or RT. I knew I wanted one but had just purchased 2 new bikes and a CLK500. Still have the bikes, sold the CLK, and bought a "new" 05 SRT, I should have done it sooner, since I am in the last quarter it will probably outlast me. Buy another, you damn right.

the dealer told me the wholesale value on a SRT-6 w/ 8000 miles was about 18,000
blue book was 23,000.. wonder how low or high they will go

Wholesale is what the dealer would buy it for and KBB is usually retail, or what the car would sell for. KBB does show trade-in and private sale estimates as well.

KBB for the one I bought is $30,025. So I figure $21,000 with the door dent, only one key, a non-OEM radio, and a missing owner's manual is still pretty good. I'm hoping to bring it back to OEM stock for under a grand.

I bought this car after a short, but intensive search for a spots car (wasn't even real serious about buying a new car really). I knew nothing about them, but when I read the spec sheet and price, I couldnt believe this car was going for that cheap. I called Carmax and ran the credit. Had it on hold and all, but checked one more place and found it for cheaper. That same day I found it on the internet, I bought one (talk about an impulse buy ). Had no idea it had an AMG engine or anything. Just couldn't believe a car that cool looking with a supercharged engine was that cheap. I honestly think this car despite its gremlins is a total steal for the price. No other car in its price range has the looks and power. NONE

I would totaly buy this car again, no doubt.

I have had no issues and no regrets. I would consider a srt6 if I had to do it over.

Though I have no factual basis to say what I'm about to say....

I'd bet that this list of TSB's is typical, if not shorter than that for most cars on the road.

Getting back to the original question that I did not actually answer in my first post, my response is a resounding YES!!!

a cheap fun date- yes I would do it again.
And though I did not buy it for a long term commitment, I would not mind letting it hang around
- there's nothing like the view from the rear...and who could not admire the unique way crossfire owners spell....

I would probably still buy mine.
No car is perfect and comparable cars look to have just as many issues if not more.
I have not had any issues with mine as of yet (it has 5,800 miles on it at present. I bought it with 3,500 on it).

Unfortunately no. Well, maybe. If I did do it again, I would buy a brand new one. My car had 10k on it when I bought it and something just doesn't seem right. It feels a bit tired. I can't pinpoint what is wrong with it, but it definitely doesn't feel fresh. The drive train is noisy (I know, I've heard tons of things about this being normal), and when the SC kicks in at a normal acceleration rate, the engine bogs or surges and the drive train makes a nice rattle, though this could be resonance(?) for a second. All I've ever been told is that this is normal, but I've driven in the AMG SLKs and it is not normal. The transmission has a mind of its own too. This is a shame, because all I've read about the AMG engine in our cars is that it is nearly bullet proof except for the cooling pump failures.
The biggest reason, I probably wouldn't get one is due to the treatment at the dealerships. I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM AND FIX THAT PROBLEM WITHOUT ALL THE B.S.!!!!! I don't want a car where even a good long term warranty doesn't mean squat. Just my opinion.

That is definitely not normal. My car has none of those issues. Only intitial complaints I had was the throttle response sometimes (fixed with sprint booster) and the copious amount of brake dust generated by the stock brake pads (easily fixed with rotex gold). With those two things fixed this car is pure joy to drive.

If I had an extra $25K laying around, I'd buy another and put it
away. Love the car and love my dealership. They have one certified
SRT6 and one Prowler tech. They do it right.

I've only had mine for a month and I haven't had any problems.
I do dread ever having it serviced in light of the issues posted on this board.
I'd probably be better off just driving my Crossfire, and loving it, rather than reading the service and parts horror stories.

Yes! I have an 06 roadster. I've had no problems (admittedly in a short amount of time, 3 months) I love the car. AND I still can't believe what a great deal it was!!

Great deal in the short run, but a wallet buster in the long run possibly. I've had my car since Aug. but it's been in my garage since October and it's been in the shop for a total of 2 months and that was only for a faulty seatbelt alarm!! All you can do is pray that nothing goes wrong with this car! This all sounds negative, but I'm just being honest about my experiences with the ownership experience I've had thus far. I'm sure it varies from owner to owner, but I'm sure you'll find more negative dealership experiences than positive ones. It's not the car's fault, it's Chrysler's IMO. I'm stuck with the car now for a very long time due to it's horrible resale value and continuing decline in value. I guess I'll just enjoy it.
