Want to buy SRT 6, but getting concerned...
I agree with the above post; however, you can minimize the cost a little bit by doing some of your own maintenance. Oil changes are very easy and can save you quite a bit of money. Actually, if you follow the recommended oil change intervals, it all equals out in the end compared to a vechicle that requires the change more frequently. So, the preventive maintenance isn't that bad. Unplanned maintenance is where the cost starts adding up if you are out of warranty. Like eganders said, this is a luxury vehicle with luxury costs. That is one reason why my SRT6 will never be a daily driver. It is a toy and a show piece like my '65 Chevelle. I drive my good ol' F150 with 100k on the clock for daily duty.

However, note that there has been more than one thread on these forums asking who's happy with and would purchase their Crossfire again. Overwhelmingly, almost all of us would. For the most part, we're a very happy bunch and the vast majority are quite pleased with our Crossfires.
As for the SRT-6, it's something special. Very fast, sophisticated and upscale, and available at an exceptionally low entry price. I don't know of any other performance vehicle with so many benefits for such a low price. However, one does need to be ready for a car like the SRT-6.
If you've never owned a high end vehicle before, you need to know that there are costs to owning a rarer, more sophisticated vehicle (no matter what it is or who makes it). Everything costs more. And in this case, unfortunately for some owners, these issues have been exacerbated by the abnormally low cost of acquisition and the perceptions of costs that came with it. The SRT-6 was originally offered by Chrysler at nearly $50,000, and the costs of maintaining it are those of a $50,000 car. Some members have been quite vocal that they didn't expect these higher costs, but right or wrong, that is the reality. If you buy one, be prepared. This is not a Ford Escort.
Also, the Crossfire is not common like a Chevy or a Ford. Chrysler (actually Karmann - a Mercedes Benz OEM) didn't build 2 gazillon of them. The SRT-6 version is rarer still. And because the Crossfire is a Mercedes Benz in lineage and reality, and not a "Chrysler", good dealerships and mechanics are not only harder to find, but they need to know their "stuff", or you may have to go elsewhere. This has upset some forum members who don't have good or convenient alternatives. You might want to call a couple of local dealership service departments *before* you purchase. You generally can't just slap it down at any Chrysler dealership. A properly cared for SRT-6 needs more attention than a mass produced widgetmobile. The back wheels are larger than the front wheels. The tires, the maintenance and even the gas is more expensive (premimum). This is a very fast car with a supercharged engine. If you're looking for a Hyundai, this isn't it.

Get a used Mustang or a even GTO can be had at a good deal.
I love my SRT6 but if given the chance I would not buy one again.
Don't waste the extra ten grand, mustangs are plentiful and you can find a good deal on one.

Many people "love" but cheat anyways..... Makes you wonder. Thanks for your input. I would buy one again without question, but then again, I've always been a romantic fool.

Looks like there are as many opinions as posters. My advice is to drive one. This is a premium car and one turn of the steering wheel speaks volumes over the cars with cheaper bones. We have an SRT6 with 45K miles and its as tight as the two conventional models I've owned with less than 20K miles. The car wreaks SOLID. You just don't get that with a stang or a charger. As far as everyday driving, my wife drives it daily and loves it (yeah its mama's car and she lets me drive it). Only problems have been low tech: light bulbs and a small valve cover leak, which could happen with any car. As with all super-high performance versions, you're going to lose some smoothness in the torque curve and ride quality, as compared with the conventional models, but what a hoot it is to drive -- every time you get behind the wheel.
ITs the only car I have ever gotten in and every time I feel like I should have five point harnesses lol I wouldn't trade this for anything. In fact I got a call about a challenger not to long ago turns out Chrysler is not going to let the price gouging fly so they can be picked up at MRSP. I decided to keep the ole SRT6 for they money they cant be beat and I have a feeling the new challenger will be the next mustang, who wants a car that everyone else has? Not me. Throw an extra $3000 down on performance and take most Ferrari's and Lambos in a 1/4. What other car can you come up with that can do that at this price, I'm talking daily driver only.

Spend maybe 5k and get a bug that can beat much of everything else.
