Default Phantom Windows

My SRT 6 runs real strong since I read some of the threads about little problems eg: ic pump and sensor. But I traded my wife's 2005 roadster in for a 2007 roadster and both windows come down by themselves after driving for a few miles. So I roll them up and again they come down after a few miles. etc etc I was wondering if anybody had this problem. I will not be able to check this until they come out of storage. Also the windows come down the same time and the same distance about 1/2 inch.

I believe your window lowering has to do with the way they automatically lower when you turn the handle above the windshield during the procedure of lowering the top. Maybe one of the microswitchs needs adjusting and is being activated as you go over a bump.

Most likely what it is. Pretty annoying. Before taking it to the shop, try lowering the top and then putting it back up to make sure its seated correctly. While it's down, wipe clean the window frame gasket against which the top seats to make sure there's no debris. Put a tiny bit of WD40 on the top lock mechanism and the catch that it grabs onto (just be careful and don't spray any on the fabric top).

Don't do it unless the outside temperate is at least 50 degrees though. Cold makes the top brittle and you can damage it.

Question Re: Phantom Windows

I understand there is a "feature" in our Roadsters that pressing the up or down button for the top will open or close the windows while underway. Is this true? Could it be a related problem?

Correct. Both windows go up or down with two touches of the top up or down button.
Sounds like there might be an issue with that switch since they both go down at the same time.

Maybe it's a Canadian only "feature"!

I know I've bumped that button and had the same thing happen to me......but that's right where my arm is when I'm shifting. Not sure if that's as much of an issue with the automatic?
