Default Tires Goodyear F1's

I just bought a new set of tires for our SRT, we had Michelin pilot sports which were only so so, one had a developed a bump some how and two others had cracks in the walls, and one was new after a high speed blow out... Michelin offered us a 30% discount as they stiull had quite abit of life left even after 17000 miles..

We decided to buy Goodyear F1 all season - they were still cheaper for the set.. but interestingly we then drove 2800 miles last week and averaged 26 mpg most of the way on I80 at 78mph which was about 4 mpg better than we ever got from the michelins..

I think you'll be very happy with the F1 A/S tires. I've had them on for a few months now and have been extremely happy with their performance / looks.

Cool, Kat,
I just bought the same exact tires for my SRT6 roadster. When I get them installed I'll do a new mileage check.
Do you like the way they handle?

Hi,
They handle much better in many ways, much softer ride, and yet handle rain much better.. you will like them I'm sure

Miliage and Road Feel please I too have a roadster with the CONTIs on and cornering could be a little better but just cruising can be a little rough sometimes - I think it will be a little worse with the F1s but they will last longer and provide better traction

WE have the conti's on the ltd crossfire we have, they are the second set, pretty good tires, but I think the Goodyear are better - a little more expensive but the ride is much smoother, and handling definitely sharper

Just got a new set of tires installed today too! My 4th and am trying Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics this time with stock size front and 275-30-19 in rears.

Replacing GS-D3's. There's something that broke in my suspension after i left the tire store and store already closed so gingerly went back home and wont be peeling off anytime soon.

Interesting - if for no other reason that to show the differences in opinions and such. I have pilot sports I run in the summer and F1 A/S I run in the winter. I just switched from the F1s to the Pilots and frankly, could not believe how much better the Pilots ride and handle - to me an all around better tire.

Ok, the F-1 A/s tires are very good. Valve stem sensors gave me no peace until I had 36 psi. Pretty firm ride, baby! My valve covers leak. Such bad form, really. Dealer in Lakewood is replacing both sides under warranty. Another Crossfire has same problem. Latest though?
My boxer has Doggles now and looks kinda goofy. Loves the top down though.

I have a pair of 285/35/19 Goodyear Eagle F1 supercar (run flats) on the rear. So far I've been really unimpressed with the traction (downside of the runflats). Tread wear is notoriously bad on them, too.

No doubt, I'm going BFG for my next tire.

Replaced the Conti's a year ago with the Goodyear's - have about 8,000 miles on them, seem to corner fine, ride is as soft as I would expect, don't notice any tire hum, and have never doubted them in the rain
in warmer weather. Prior to these I have been running of Firestone Firehawh H-rated on both my Jag and Audi - I loved that tire! but don't make them for Crossfires. During the winter - I was amazed at how slippery these tires got when cold, but from what I've read on the forum - it appears that is a natural occurance. Bottom Line- the Goodyears met my expectations -

Unhappy Re: Tires Goodyear F1's A/S

I bought mine in Jan. 08. after my Conti's wore out. They hold the road in the wet very well and are a good looking tire. No complaints on the ride. BUT, I have about 7 k miles on them and I hate the noise! They have gotten louder and louder, especially at low speeds. Hard to keep balanced now and they are cupping. Chrysler has looked at the car and my own mechanic. They both said the issue is the tires. I believe them. I can't believe the tires are cupping and everything on the car has been checked out. Twice!

Tire Rack has some people writing in reviews of the same problem developing after a few thousand miles. I am going to try and get these replaced with something else. The NTB store I bought them from has said they have heard complaints about the noise of these tires too.

Cool Re: Tires Goodyear F1's

Dan,
Yes, A/Ts. I've only driven 3K so probably too early to tell if I will have the same problems.
I bought my tires from Discount Tires. I had to order them in. The tires are just fine at 130. I'm looking to get on the track one of these days to see how they handle at 160.

Yes, mine are the all season. Read the recent reviews on Tire Rack from people who have more than 5000 miles on them. Actually one peron with a PT Cruiser only has 1000 miles on them and hates them.

Plus 1 on the F1 Asymmetrics. I put them about a month or so ago, so I don't have a lot of miles. And it hasn't rained here in a month, and won't until October at the earliest, so I can't speak to wet road performance.

But so far I love the grip. I also think the tire is quieter than than stock Michelins.

I was just reading some of the follow up on the tires, many years ago I drove non stop from London to Marseilles some 1500 miles, in a volvo with pirelli tires - the tires basically overheated on route and went to coin the mechanics phrase "oval" , I changed to goodyear and a harder compound and no more trouble..
Although I was advised to slow down every hour or so to give the tires a chance to cool a little !
I wonder if these F1's need a little cooling off once in awhile? we've not noticed any ecessive road noice with ours - we do often find that semi truck depressions in the road send the cars into a bit of a roll and that does generate lots of noise as they roll across the depressions.

Smile Re: Tires Goodyear F1's

The Goodyear all seasons stopped my car from wandering in its lane. I have had the car aligned twice to no avail, I have had the dealer check it out and say its fine "Crossfire's all wander". Not after the Goodyears they don't! This is the first time I can drive on the freeway and not have to fight to stay in my lane. I just made a long cross country drive and these tire's are great, even on badly worn pavement they track straight. What a relief after the contis. They ride better, they sound better, in the cold the handle better, in the rain they grip better, in the dry they turn in better, and they cost less! I bought them from Goodyear, if they have any problems, Il trust Goodyear to fix them. The last day of the trip I drove from West Yellowstone to Seattle, 800 miles. I could not have done that on the old wandering piece of crap tires the car came with. The Goodyears made this car the best long distance cruiser I have ever had. Oh yeah, and the piece of foam I put on the seats helped also.
