Needswings CAI - Another happy customer
With the good weather last weekend I was finally able to install my Needswings CAI. The install went very smoothly. Only bump in the road for me was taking out the stock intake passthrough. Kinda had to break a few pieces off of it to get it out but its still usable so its all good. After I got all the stock parts out the install of the Needswings piece was seemless and went very quickly. All the pipes fit perfectly and the final piece tucked right underneath the grill without any problems. The directions were very comprehensive and easy to follow too, which was a welcome change from other manufacturer's directions. Now to the fun part.
I took it out right after install and the car felt good, I didnt notice too much of a power difference at first. The supercharger whine was what really got me smiling during that first run. It just sounds so cool. After a few runs though, I started to notice a bigger difference in power gains. From my experience it seems like it takes some time for the power gains to start showing, or maybe it just took me some time to start noticing it. Overall I'm really satisfied with the Needswings product, its great looking, perfomes well, and makes the car sound even better. And i got a giant t shirt to boot, ha XL is just a little bit big on me but I think I'll frame it or something and put it on my wall haha. Warning to everyone though, watch the led foot when you first install the intake. Hearing the supercharger just makes you wanna step on it all the time hah. I might have went over the speed limit just a little bit during my test runs
. Result: I had the cops at my house talking to me about speeding in residential areas hah. I guess I have some nosy neighbors.
Also, I just wanna publicly thank Rob and Needswings for having such great customer service. I've never dealt with such a nice and understanding representative. Rob is just a really cool dude. He worked with me on an issue I had till I was completely satisfied. He went out of his way to make me feel comfortable that I was dealing with the right company and that they actually cared about their customers. Truthfully he really didn't need my business, with all the orders Needswings gets, but he went out of his way anyway to make me happy and I really appreciate it. THANKS ROB!!! After all is said and done I'm definitly going to be a repeat customer.

x2................I bought my Zeitronix gauges from Rob and received nothing but the BEST customer service and awesome price as well.
Takes a little while for the ECU to adapt to the mod.
I'm gettting this CAI, and then I want to do an ECU reflash (costs $350, but gives you a couple of MPG - if I can avoid too much leadfoot, that is.
), and a resonator removal.

Hey Jeff, can you expand on the ECU flash? Where is it available for $350? I thought the best price was $500 - was it Inmotion? And what kind of MPG gains are we talking? I thought we'd actually get worse MPG...
Can't wait until my NeedsWings CAI comes in!!

Their custom tune is $500 (needed if you've done a pulley swap)
If you later buy a pulley and upgrade to the custom tune the charge is $200.
I've seen posts claiming a couple more MPG, and if you are not satisfied with your tune, others have reproted that you can send it back and they'll kick it up a notch at no charge (within 30 days if memory serves.)
I've e-mailed them about coming to the fall Tail of the Dragon GTG, and they said they would if they had at least 3 pre-paid.
I'm getting in on the NeedsWings CAI group buy, and if we can get a good group together we may be able to negotiate a discount from these guys as well.
Here is their link:

Descisions descisions descisions! Do I get a stage 2 tune for $350 and stop there with the tune and the CAI? Or go for broke and spend another $600 for a pully and another $150 on the tune?
Oh, my bank account just hates me.

Yep, I want one. I'm going to wait for another group buy. 450 is just a bit too much for me right now for a car mod. I'm getting married in a week, moving to DC in a month, and going through phys. therapy for my blown out knee.
Reassuring to all of us awaiting our group buy CAI's. Thanks much for the observations.

Mine brought forth new exhiliration to the senses. The exhaust rumbles more, the gas pedal is more responsive, the car pulls harder and longer through the RPMs, and the supercharger whine sounds so menacing you'll have a hard time keeping your foot out of the throttle!

I can't imagine the engines being too far different but it would be good to at least see some other "stock" SRT's and the numbers they're pulling. Needswings pulled a strong 294 and I know a C32 guy on mbworld pulled around the same hp, so I'm thinking it can range somewhere between the high 280's and low 290's.
I feel ya though, I really don't want to spend the extra dough just for one mod. I'll end up doing one if I decide to do a full cat-back, HE/Pump swamp, and pulley so I can let the masters tune it

I got around to installing my needswings cai today.I have to say everything went smooth and it fit perfect. The only problem i encountered was one of the stupid screws holding the grill in would not come out.And im not kidding i could not get the thing out.Luckily it was on the last one on the drivers side so i managed to work around it.The car sounds great with it on.You can really hear the SC now just like it should have been from the factory.Once again Rob has supplied the community with a quality piece. The next free weekend i have the asp pulley kit and johnson pump are going on.Thanks again Rob
I installed my new CAI today too.
I don't drink beer so I can't tell ya how many beers it took to do the install but I took my time and discovered one minor thing not mentioned in the instructions. The 90 degree front aluminum elbow that the filter attaches to behind the grill is slightly longer on one end more than the other.
I initially had it so the longer end was behind the grill with the filter on it but then found the shorter end to not reach far enough into the engine bay to connect to the rest of the intake tubes. So I turned it around and it worked fine.
After a brief conversation with Rob I actually had it right the first time but I left it the other way and in the end I have the whole thing installed and everything lines up and clears all critical points.
My thanks to Rob for a quality product carefully wrapped and packed and shipped promptly. Gary

I can't wait for mine to finish it's journey - right now it is parked in Toledo.
Per FedEx, I should have it wednesday - tools & beer are ready to go.
I perused the instructions, and it looks like a simple install needing only three wrenches (8, 10 & 11mm) and a screwdriver.

The engine can breathe good now.
A slightly noticeable growl with the pedal down and 0 to 120 very fast.
Looking forward to what my almost stock Crossfire will do on Midwest Track Day on May 17th in Morocco,Indiana.
