How hard do you drive yours?
Talking about non-track driving. Just curious and wanted to see if engine wear had any correlation to the notorious pump failure.
I drive mine relatively light (comparatively speaking)... take it to 6k RPM's about once a drive, and hit 100+ about once a week. Never taken it to a track - not really my thing. Other than that, its just cruising or stuck in Houston traffic
. My car has 17,XXX miles...
No pump failure here.... yet.

The engine and the pump are 2 completely separate things, i dont see how one could draw any conclusion that how hard you drive your car would lesses the pumps lifespan. It just pumps water.
Thrashed without mercy since bought new in 2005, 19,xxx miles. Redline everytime it's driven. Is my thing, no point to the car for me otherwise.
Doesn't burn oil and no pump failure yet. Runs like a Rolex

I drive mine relatively light (comparatively speaking)... take it to 6k RPM's about once or twice a drive, and hit 100+ about once a week. Never taken it to a track - not really my thing. Other than that, its just cruising or stuck in Houston traffic

Still interested in how hard everyone is pushing theirs...
Since my 07 non-SRT has an unlimited powertrain warrenty. I don't usually shift before redline. I figure if the powertrain goes bust, I'll just take it in for service..

I'm just over the 40k mark on the odometer. I changed out my IC pump at about 25k to be on the safe side.
I drive it like a bat out of H-E-Double Hockey Sticks every day...
Cheers!

110 miles round trip to work everyday, 80% on rural roads & highways. Driving it hard consists of occasionally punching it just to reassure myself it's still an SRT, ahhhhh........yep, it's still the rocket mobile it was when I purchased it in Oct. of last year.
22K miles & so far, no pump failure.
Oh, still haven't raced anyone but a couple of farm boys in their Dodge Hemi Ram's. Always good for plenty laughs.

I would say that I drive my car pretty hard. I like getting where I'm going
as quickly a possible, and on the highway I push it hard passing idiots
who think the left lane is for poking along in. I've put nearly 60K miles
on the car, and it gets hard throttle regularly. I like to have fun!
pump did fail, but otherwise this has been a real tight car.

Ok guys, don't laugh at me, but what are the symptoms when and if this happens?
Mine has less than 5k on it, but I drive it like a madwoman on an almost daily basis.

From what I've read on other threads, you'll know.
Major HP loss.
Well let's see, I just may have pushed it too Hard, for the Dragon ... anyways!
Or was it.... that it Pushed me, too Hard.

Now I'm quite aware of the IC pump failure problem, as is anyone who visits the forum on a regular basis. But I do have a question.
Does the IC pump run constantly? Or only when the blower kicks in?
