Default At the track after the LET tune

So I got the ECU back from LET last night and took it to the track tonight. The conditions today were pretty close to what I had two weeks ago. Sunny and about 80. Below is the slips from my first two runs(#4324). One in the left lane and then one in the right lane. I forgot and had the car in Drive the first four runs. It certainly didnt seem to make any difference. My first run had a 60' of 1.982 and 12.62 @ 112.1mph. The second run had a 60' of 1.961 and 12.56 @108.99mph. I made 8 runs and the best 60' was 1.793 and 12.68 @ 111.63mph. I had two runs in the 13's when I spun badly on launch and the TC kicked and killed my take off. That's right, I still ran with the TC on tonight. I will turn it off next trip and see if it helps.

Before the LET tune I made two runs at 12.92 and 12.96 with 60' times in the 2.1 - 2.2 range. I gained a good .3 - .4 seconds with the tune. The car pulls great and I think if I could get the timing and launch I can get to 12.4. I am running on Kumho Ecsta SPT's. They preped the track pretty decent and I seemed to be hooking up pretty good. On my fourth run I tried revving a little and spun the tires pretty good and the TC kicked on and killed my power. I ran a 13.47 A 110.7mph with a 2.7 60'. All in all I am pretty happy with my car. Now I need to get the dyno and see how my rWhp I picked up with the tune.

Wow man that is great, good job! That 1.7 60' on street tires is amazing!

Those are some pretty impressive numbers Mike - I'm sure once you master the launch you could very well see 12.4X in those weather conditions.

I wonder if some 100 Octane fuel would help out..

Maybe on a cool, crisp autumn afternoon, running some 100 Octane, a great launch and your in in the 12.2X club (maybe 12.1X)? With street tires...!!

WOW! Keep us informed...

You sould post your 12.56 run on Dragtimes.com

I'm not sure if the LET tune helped your 60ft out, but that is where most of your ET reduction came from. 2.1 to 1.7 is good for at least .4 off your ET. What were your trap speeds prior to the LET tune?
1.7 is great, what was your launch technique?

I launched the same as last time. Watch the lights and on the last yellow, hit the gas. I had TC on and the car was in Drive the first four runs. I put it in first the next four and it didnt make any difference for me. I still had the TC on. Next time at the track the TC will come off.

Good runs! I would like to see you hit a 12.4 with your mods....trap speed is there.

Good runs Mike! What is the track elevation there BTW? Your trap mph is good at 112. That is where mine is at right now. Anywhere from mid 111 to mid 112 traps.

The track is at about 200 feet elevation. Things should get very interesting in 4 or 5 weeks when the temps get back to the 60's and 70's.

I take it your running at woodburn dragstrip (197' elevation)? Looks like a great track with lots of action. What was the temp when you actually ran? The high yesterday was 80 and low 50, at least that's what accuweather.com says. I would have to guess your humidity at best was 50%. I would have to guess your going to be at a 12.34 with a little cooler weather and less humidity. A low 12 will have to be with 15% or less humidity, temp can go as high as 68 degrees. You have great elevation but your humidity changes the DA. If your barometric pressure was 30.10 and the rest is accurate your DA corrected elevation for that day was 1611 feet. It's only going to get better. Nice going way to get out there. If you want that time to drop quicker, throw out that intake and get a needswings.

x2...............it's all about the 60' time and your trap speed to tell the difference. Every .1 you shave off of your 60'(launch) you'll drop about .15-.2 seconds at the end of the 1/4 mile.

Example

Joe ran a 13.1 @110 with a 2.1 60'(maybe some tire spin)

then he ran a 12.9 @109 with a 1.9 60'(decent grip with little to no spin)

Nice times either way and especially nice 1.7x 60'

I dont know if this is a rumor, but, word on the street the new JRindustries matching pillars give you an extra 50hp .......... Once you have them installed of coarse. By my calculations you should easily run a 12.4. Nice times buddy I am working on your pod and blank as we speak.

How the heck you running that good with TC on? I would think the gains would be much higher considering the power loss every time the TC kicks in. Great times indeed! Can't wait to see what you do with the TC off.

Not so well, Brian. Thanks for asking though. Two 13.3's and one 13.2. So whatever is causing the power loss is still there. But I didn't expect it to go away on its own. I went so I could record some logs from the OBDII port. I haven't had a chance to review the logs yet.

At least you have a track you can go to for test & tune... Good luck with the diagnostics and let us know what you find..

What is a good OBDII to get for reading the error codes and other data?

Are you running in your best weather conditions? If not, wait till then. Hot weather will just frustrate you. It was only 104 when I made my first pass last night, but with humidity changed the DA to 5300'. I might as well be racing in Denver. My fastest time was 13.20, unfortunately on a 13.31 dial. So I broke out and lost. A crosswind must have turned into a tail wind and screwed up my dial in. You can figure your DA so at least you can compare to others. That way it don't matter temps or humidity. Next time you go to the track ask the tower or one of the bigger race car setups for the DA. They'll be glad to give it to you, be sure to check it a few times as it changes frequently.
