Default New xfire SRT owner

Hi, I am new to this site and I haven't even sorted my fonts out yet :-) I'm Dave from South London UK. I am purchasing an 06 SRT and it will be delivered next weekend. I have downloaded all the documentation I can find and wondered if anyone had any good tips for me.

One thing I did with my prvious car was to install a HID headlight system (about £50 from Ebay) and it was the best thing I ever did. I hope to do the same on the xfire, but as with my previous car (UK Ford Scorpio Cosworth), it looks like its easier to remove the headlight assemblies to change the bulbs. Anyway, I will sort it out.

Any South UK Xfire meetings?

Thanks for any info I get.

Dave

Welcome to the forum. Look around here and you will see several post on the HID lights. Make sure to post your VIN in the srt-vin thread when you get it.

I'm looking into HID conversion also. I did it with my Jaguar X-type which had projectors, and it was beautiful. I'm going to get a cheap Ebay kit because the one I got for my Jag ended up being such high quality and never gave me problems. If I get it done before you, I'll let you know which ebay seller I went with and any tips I learn during the install.

Yes, I already purchased an Ebay kit for my old car. Cost about £48 delivered to the UK. I got it from a US Ebay seller called "alpha-bid". It was easy to fit (once I had removed the headlight assemblies) and was probably the best thing about my old car. I would have removed it, except it was H1 bulbs, while the Xfire is H7. Also note, you only need to do the dipped beams. No point doing mainbeam.
I just ordered another kit (H7) and I can recommend 8000k colour temperature.

Yeah 8000K looks cool but I experienced major eye fatigue with that. Blue is the most stressful color on the eye. I went to 6K and it was better but tiring after a few hours on a road trip, 6K still looked nice too.

I'm considering going with 3K for a bright yellow effect, which will also keep a person awake... Haven't decided.

No point doing ANYTHING other than 4300K unless you want to have that ricer purple or too blue look.

4300K is the OEM color temperature for HID bulbs.
