Default Problems with LET

Several weeks ago, I ordered a pump, plugs, headers and a tune from LET. I was told they'd ship the plugs and pump 'right away', but that the headers were built and were being sent 'for powdercoating' and would be sent as soon as they were done.

After hearing nothing and receiving nothing, I called the numbers listed in their website. No one ever answers, nor does anyone return calls. I emailed to both Jerry and Erick and Jerry answered that he was ready to do the ECU (which he did.....no problems there.....he was on vacation).

Erick now says they are out of the pumps, so I cancel this order and get one off ebay. I still want the plugs and headers. Erick says they have shipped the plugs and that the headers are 'being powdercoated'....apparently for the second time... and will be shipped right afterwards.

Its a week later.........no tracking numbers, no returned email, no shipment of either plugs or headers. Maybe the 'shipping' Erick referred to was him throwing the plugs in the Gulf of Mexico and hoping for the best.

Perhaps its time for LET to get out of the business (or lack thereof) if they can't fill orders and attempt to sell merchandise they either have no intention of selling or have no competence in furnishing.

NOTE: No problems with the 'Jerry' part of LET.......tune was delivered as advertised. He should find another business partner.

you see, venting does help, you have to feel better....seriously though, some of the things for our cars do take time when you are dealing with 3rd party vendors...you make the deal w/ LET, but they are relying on someone else to finish their product...it is the same with others doing business on here...what they need to do is improve communication...we don't mind waiting as long as we know they are actually working on it...I've been there, or the real kicker, you buy something a week later, they are running a sale for 50 bucks less...real pain...

No, that's not it at all. My problem is with Erick telling me anything in order to answer my email. If they can't fill the order, they should say so. I'm paying the guy to do the mods and we're waiting for the delivery of the parts LET said they would provide...SEVERAL TIMES.

This is not 'venting'....its demanding that LET do what they repeated said they'd do...or at the least, admitting that they can't furnish what their customer's order so that I can get my car back and stop paying my mechanic to wait. This is not rocket science....its the minimal customer service they should be providing.

Jerry was fast with my ECU tuning. I sent it out overnight and he had it back to me in two days. I had placed an order for the HE, plugs, pump, spacers, it took a good 3-4 weeks because the HE was being made. I would say be a little more patient. These guys are crazy busy and they WILL take care of you!

I ordered my SL55 intake, plugs and 185mm Pulley from LET on the same day.

Granted - I was one of the first to order from LET but I received the AMG Intake and Plugs in two weeks. The Pulley took 12 weeks. This seems to be the norm for all of the "built-to order" vendors on this site.

I'm sure the headers will take some time - but you will be one of the firsts (that I know of) to install a set of headers.

Please take pictures and provide a write up letting us know how the installation went, sound, etc..

I also hope you can run a before and after dyno.

Erick is a great guy and stands behind everything he sells. They are a little slow with shipping but rely on outside vendors. They usually don't supply shipping numbers but if they say it's sent I'm sure it is. Not meant as an insult but you shouldn't be scheduling installation of parts until you have everything in hand, because sometimes you get the wrong parts. I would rather deal with guys like Erick, and Jerry who stand behind their products and maybe a little slow, then other vendors who sell you the wrong parts and then don't want to be hassled with the return.

I think his whole point is, if your told by ANYONE in the company that your order is in progress it SHOULD be in progress not in development. I love the performance I recieved from the LET parts I have received but when told on a Monday I was receiving "the Last one they had" only to find out on Friday the day they were to arrive that that perticular one was already sold or promissed to someone else is not the best way to do business.
I do not need anyone here explaining what may or may not have been the reason for this. We all know the reason for this. I just want to conclude with I feel for the guy who is sitting there waiting for something that was intentioally sold through a bit of miss leading practice.
Generally people that buy these types of product are impatient and if you get their money it's hard for them to buy from the compitition.

I feel for you 100%. I wasnt aware of the long lead times on parts when i ordered my parts last week and I actually talked to them face to face at a meet. When you shell out money (in my case for pulleys, tune, h/e and plugs) you expect a timely delivery. LET makes great products and has proven performance, but maybe like Code3, stop selling parts till you have them back in stock. Or atleast at time of sale say " Delivery could take 4-6 weeks" or what not. Good thing I had the extra cash at the time and can wait but some people do not.
Rant over,
Bryan Tracy

I have had nothing but positive things to say about Erick and LET. I had Erick install my HE, thermostat and pump. Heck, he loaned his personal car for use while he installed the parts. I had an issue with the stat and I was running warmer than the stock unit. Within two days I had another stat and he followed up several times to make sure it was working properly and I was satisfied.

Sounds like they are just very busy. I do not agree with someone telling you something that they know they cannot deliver just to buy time but I can't say enough that I was very impressed with Erick's character and to want to make sure I was pleased.

Thanks for the comments.......but the difficulty is.......they should state that it might take several weeks to supply their orders......not tell me its being shipped, when clearly it isn't. I scheduled my mod installation based on what I was promised when I ordered.
I'm not asking for 'special priviliges' or treatment, but I am asking for what was promised when it was promised.

It sounds like this isn't an isolated problem with LET. Perhaps they should adjust their business practices to reflect these delays, rather than poisoning the well for their future business.

We do a lot of business as many of you know and its basically the same for us. The bad thing about being a small tuner is that you need to rely on a fab shop to make your products and a lot of the time you can't buy a large quantity up front and have to order as supply demands. This works for a little bit, but eventually you need to keep stock.

I'd love to carry twice as many products, but the lead times to get them out to customers would be ridiculous. I feel bad for the 4-6 week wait on our phenolic spacers, but we offered a substantial discount to compensate.

Erik is a good guy, but this is not his only job. As much as we would all love for this to bring in all the money, the exposure just isnt there yet. When you do business with a smaller company this tends to be the trade off. Money saved, time wasted. This is by no means a justification for Erick or our delays in shipping anything, just my POV.

Telling a customer something is being shipped when it isn't is just a recipe for disaster. I learned that early on with CTD and Sprintboosters. We cut back our product offering, but do have everything in stock that is on our website, except where noted.

All I need is a person dedicated to fulfilling and shipping orders and we'll be right up there with Jegs and Summit.

I placed and order with LET for Johnson pump and Phenolic spacers, about 12 days ago. I sent my payment through Paypal. I havent recieved any kind of confirmation that they got my payment or that they are processing my order. Ive called several times and nobody answers or returns my calls. My ICpump is out and my car is running like crap. I dont mind waiting for good part at a good price. But just a little communication would help ease my pain. I guess Ill just have to wait and see what happens.

I just got off the phone with Jerry and he explained the pulley situation and gave me a few alternatives. Jerry is a great guy and has always done everything in his power to make things right.... As for Erick I dont have any personal experience so I will leave it at that.

I have recently placed an order from LET through Erick. When after a few days I hadn't seen the charge go through the bank, I sent him an email just to follow up on the order. When I got home from work today I had a reply from him saying that he had been out of town for a few days and that the order was being processed today. I have no problems with that. So far I find Erick to be responsive and pleasant to do business with. I just keep in mind that smaller companies don't have the staff to be able to respond as they would like when they get really busy and/or have people away.

I'm just thankful that there are people out there (here) that are supplying performance and cosmetic accessories for our car, which especially for the SRT6 is a very limited market.

Just my experience.

Steve

Yup.

It’s still lookin’ pretty sharp - four months and myriad WOT tests hence.

I dealt with Jerry and LET for the 1st time last week and they were so helpful in getting my custom Tune within 3 days. Like others have said, it's great to have some shops specializing in our cars and I thank God for them!

Got a call from Erick yesterday as I was headed to visit my disabled car. I had cancelled the order for the pump and the plugs, as it was clear they weren't being shipped from LET.

Erick said he shipped the plugs. They haven't arrived at my home in Florida from Texas in over a week. There is no shipping that I know of that takes that long for a two pound or less package, no matter how cheap one sends it.

I also asked when (or if) they were going to ship the headers. He said, 'I'm checking with them later today and I'll get back to you TODAY.'

Naturally, that was yesterday (Tuesday). It's now 6:30 Wednesday. Remarkably enough, I haven't heard a thing......and Erick hasn't called me.
I tried calling the number back he called me on his cell phone, but his phone is full. I wonder if its more dissatisfied customers.

What a surprise.
