Default wow what a price!

time for my srt6 to get new brake pads, so i call the local dealership and they tell me in order to replace the brake pads they need to replace the rotors too and to replace both front rotors and both front pads it will cost me around $650 (way too pricey)...is it true that i have to switch my rotors if i change my brake pads? i was thinking of ordering the rotex and if i do can i keep using the same rotor? please help my knowledge on brakes are limited.

The dealer installed the Rotex Gold pads I supplied them on my car with out using new rotors. They simply "turned" my old rotors. My car had 29k on it at the time.

Well first of all most definitely get the Rotex gold pads.
You should only need to replace your rotors if they are badly pitted or warped and don't have enough tolerance left to be cut.
Mine were cut to clean them up slightly at 18000 miles when I had my Rotex Golds installed.
They said I had plenty of metal on the rotors

When i worked at benz and bmw it was automatic you just replaced rotors as per the factory recomendation, so thats what there probably gonna tell you. Except at Chrysler where they forget its actually a MB.

Id go to a privately owned shop and get their opinion.
