I was concerned with buying an srt-6 because my '05 mustang GT's shifter was fun. But after driving the srt-6 it became clear that the rocket acceleration made shifting almost impossible. A human being simply cannot keep up with watching the road, their speed, and RPMs that would redline so dang quickly as the speedometer shot up so dang quickly. Its just impossible, and if a manual existed, it would definately be slower after the human factor mentioned above was weighed in. I wouldn't even want to deal with trying, if it were even an option.

All of that being said, I dont think a human could clutch/shift/clutch as fast as this auto tranny shifts. And since this auto tranny will easily redline when you want it to, it makes it even more evident why a manual wasn't offered.

You can't even drive standard, can you?

says the guy that drives a front wheel drive 4 door "sports car" lmao!

I can drive a manual just as well as the best of them. In fact I road course race and have owned and still own manual transmission cars. Maybe when you grow up and are old enough to have a drivers license you can try your hand at it too if your daddy will let you. Until then you can keep reading those fast and furious magazines and magazine racing your 4 door fwd "sports cars" lmao. I do understand that little guys just getting started out in the world have to drive and "build" what they can afford. If that means you have to take a 4 door sloppy handling econo car from a few decades ago and make it into a "race car" then so be it lmao.

I don't know if he has all the bugs worked out yet, but I think he's been pretty busy filming TV shows.
SRT engine has a different crankshaft bolt pattern and needs to be mated with a flywheel from a C230 sport coupe' with a manual transmission. Honestly, if you are going to do this, you're going to need a deep pocket and lots of patience. It's easier to mate the SRT engine to a standard XF for many reasons... The BIG one is that your SRT6 ECU relies on a very specific set of sensor signals from the auto trans to run properly... I GUESS WE ARE BACK TO THE BIG PROBLEM THE ECU & PCM... In 4 years I have not found ANYONE able to modify the ECU & PCM of this car to bypass ANY system sensor. I went with MOTEC M600 and threw the BOSCH in the trash...

That would be like me wanting a boat but buying a plane instead and then wanting to convert it to a boat. It is a huge waste of time and money lol.
In my case, I fell in love with the styling of the car first. After I started seeing the costs and availability of low mileage SRT's, coupled with the stats of this car against similar two-door sports cars, the pro's overran the con's. I hadn't owned an auto transmission car before and I did have that in my 'con' column, but I'd still buy the car again in a heartbeat. That said, if there is 'whining' from owners about the transmission I think it's because the car comes so close to perfection for most.

I'd love to see the SRT-6's with a DSG transmission like VW/Audi's. I know I'd get use to the paddle shifters, but still would rather see something for your left foot.

Wow so much hate.
The guy just asked a question (as Im sure you have all seen the same question over and over)

I didnt see any complaints, rather a simple question.
I know for one I would have atleast liked the option of a maual. If Chrysler (ma benz) would have offered it, who knows, these cars may have actually sold!

Also comparing a Bugatti to a Crossfire is almost laughable.

Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled program.

I ran B&M Autos, w/ stall convertors in the 70's....and never missed a gear, can't say that for the guy next to me...never dropped a clutch, again, can't say that about the guy next to me...it doesn't have to have a clutch and gear shift to be sporty...anyone remember the name "Hall" and the "Chaparell" road racing an automatic...they have been around for years and the Benz people know the auto stick and computer are better than most wannabees gear jammers...I drive an 18 wheeler everyday, I get my fill of shifting...someday, even I will go auto there as well....

Ohh, ohh, I want to post in BOTH threads also!
Here's my response in "the other thread"!

Tough job. Too many things are integrated into the powertrain control module that are looking for input from the transmission control module that have to do with how the engine management system works.
I've seen this question before. Try a SEARCH to see what has already been covered.

maybe we can get lucky and ACRucrazy will go crazy and bump up all the other old threads asking silly questions so we can all have them to look at and review again for the 1000th time.

I hope so, I bet that is the first time anyone ever make you fell special. Maybe you can write that down in your diary tonight!
