Default Checking Oil?

Obviously you use the dip stick but in the owners book it says you can chech it electronically from inside the car. Somehow you hit the trip button with the switch off and it shows in the trip spot the oil level. I have tried it doing exactly what the book says but can never get it to work? Anyone else get it to work?

After you turn the engine off, wait a few minutes for the oil to settle and than follow the instructions in the manuel. I couldn't get mine to display when I hadn't waited. Now it works.

Turn the ignition to on, but don't start the car. Wait till you see the trip odo change and than hit the button twice. It will display the oil level. If you hit the button twice while the car is running it will show you how much life is left for the oil. Took me a while to get it right.
