Is our engine EXACTLY the same as the SLK32???
Ive heard a few times the SRT-6 engine is identical to that of the slk32 and that we dont have 328hp but in actual fact have 348hp and 331 LB-ft. Are these just rumours or a known fact within the community?

Identical, sans the little plaque attached to the supercharger from the AMG mechanics.
I've read here on the forum, that Mercedes didn't want the lowly Chrysler sports car to have the same HP rating as the much vaulted SLK/AMG version.
But if that's true, why didn't they mind that the NA Crossfire shared the same HP rating with the NA Merc SLK? Especially since that was the only engine offered in the Crossfire during its 1st. year of production.

I think they didn't want to "taint" the AMG image.

I didnt know anything about this car 2months ago, it was out of luck i came across it on one of those 0-60 times websites. I was amazed how nicely priced it was for the kind of power u were getting. To learn it had an AMG engine was very appealing. After buying the car and driving it around i was completely amazed and loving the power. Stupidly i never drove the auto stick so when i discovered on this great forum the auto stick can be driven without self shifting i gave that ago and that blew me away! i thought the difference in power was big. Mid range power in this car is just awesome, i love being thrown back like that. Now to learn we have the exact same engine just makes me smile even more. this car is the love of my life.. maybe i should get a life! Early next year i think ill bite the bullet of warranty and get mods. I wanted to ask about the aftermarket IC pump u guys get (name escapes me) if i get that instaled is that enough reason for dealers to void my waranty?

Our intakes, however, are crimped towards the throttle body. So the truth is we do have less power than the SLK32, but its not because of the actual engine, its because of the intake more than anything.
I've also read we might have a slightly less aggressive computer tune. Might be true. Probably not.
I've also read we have a slightly less aggressive cam grind than the SLK32 and C32. I really doubt this, however, because that would be a huge waste of research $$$ to pull something off like that. Much cheaper to just grab the engines off the assembly line as-is.
So, besides the crimps in our stock intakes, the engines and power should be the same.

There are various mods you can do that are easily reversable. Pulleys and cold air intakes seem to be the most popular.
