Ideas for hatch area after removing CROSSFIRE?
Everyone I know that knows cars that has seen my car always remarks about it being so cool and how "its unfortunate its named crossfire like the original disappointing ones." and how chrysler should've just called this car the srt-6. Etc etc etc.
Well, since I only take my car in the general public, I figured lets get rid of the crossfire name to make the car seem more mysterious to these shallow general public people.
I KNEW it would be plain back there, I saw pics on here, but I still did it. And yeah, its plain.
Now that I've given you a huge pointless story of how I spent some of my afternoon, has anyone done anything cool with the empty space left back there?

But debadging is not uncommon with just leaving the SRT badge. You may consider getting the new font SRT badge done in the slant font. There is a dealer in AZ on Ebay that sells them for about $75.

I removed mine. But not because I dont like the name. They just cluttered up the back and it just makes that much easier to wax and clean. Course, this is nothing new. Us hotrodders have been doing this since the begining of the automotive industry.
personalize it like this. jim

Maybe a nice pistripe design topped with a coat of clearcoat.... something custom, clean, nice to look at and easy to wax...
I have an idea how about put something that says: This is not the original disappointing unfortunate Crossfire it just looks like one. Maybe that will make the "shallow general public people" happy.

That is the second Crossfire with AMX on the rear I have seen.
Why?
Would it be any dumber to put Gremlin on the back?
It two was a POS from the not far enough past.
And it has as much to do with the Crossfire as an AMX.
By the way 35 years ago I used a 400 small block from a 69' AMX to build one kick a$$ of a street car. So please don't attempt a history lesson on AMX's.
The crossfire has nothing in commom with bell bottoms, polyester shirts and crappy door handles. Let the AMX go.
Happy Motoring...

The Gremlin was most definately NOT a POS for cars at the time. I had one, and in fact the Crossfire reminds me very much of the 1973 Gremlin I owned. Same wheelbase and the Gremlin had more usable space. Anyway, if you look at collector reviews, the Gremlin ahd more HP and torque than any of the cars at the time, Vega, Pinto etc. It was deemed very reliable compared to others, was a simplistic design as they all were, and today is considered the sleeper of car collecting. I had mine for 3 years before trading it on a 75 Nova SS and in many respects I'm sorry I did, although that Nova was one of the best cars I ever had-150K on the clock and maybe 1000 in repairs in the 10 years I owned it. Actually, I'm kinda pleased that 38 years later I have my old Gremlin back in a new reincarted body design. Better HP and handling too! But it still feels the same on the snow!

Yeah, I ordered that newer bigger SRT6 emblem, haven't received it yet. My concern was it would still look empty. I guess it will look ok after all though.
But the person who suggested an airbrush type design, very good idea. You could make a nice small custom picture there, very unique. But, not my kind of way to spend $$$. Just looking for an emblem or logo, word, etc.
I'll probably just use the larger srt6 emblem when it comes and accept that the extra space being a problem is all in my head.

Mike if you can't see the statistical similarities, then there's probably no need to read any further.
Actually I doubt if anybody who's never owned or even driven a 68/69/70 AMX can really fully understand the method behind our madness. But to those of us who own or have owned an AMX, it's abundantly clear as to why we feel the way we do about these two cars. With their size, handling, maneuverability, and performance being so close it's just a given.
There is only two of us (here on the forum) who rebadged our cars in this method, so what's your problem with it? The last time I checked, it's still a free country.
It sounds like you and Voyager may have a few issues you need to address.
I think Jim (AMX1397) and I simply see it as another form of self expression, and just another way we enjoy our cars. When you think about it, we probably don't confuse other drivers any more than Crossfire owners who debadge their cars just to keep everybody guessing.
Being a nonconformist is probably one of the reasons many of us find the Crossfire so desirable.

Nice Blkfin!
I was thinking the same thing. The larger emblem with no letters. The factory logo is way too small to properly discern over a car length or two away... they need more time than that to figure out the mystery blur fly by.
