what about a valve-body upgrade? i had this on my jaguar and my lexus. made for really fast and hard shifts....makes less friction through gears

oh, and on my Aviator, i used a power programmer to adjust shift points and shift pressure! what is the hurdle to overcome that we can't do this on out SRT's????

I'm actually shocked to hear that there was a company who saw a market for the Jags and Lexus's Who made them? Where they simple "shift kits" where you drill passages and replace springs and such?

just talked to an associate who says he can possibly fab us(C32's,SLK32's and SRT-6's) lighter and stronger drive shaft upgrades. he's going to make a few calls... i'll keep you all posted. he's also going to check on carbon fiber as a possibility for the big spenders.

both were refundable 'core charge.' surprisingly, quite a few shops have torque converters and valve-body mods for lexus. i only found one company who could do my jag.

Don't want to get off the LET TC topic...still waiting on more info. But, I dunno if it's much different with the 6, but the 8 just requires dropping the pan and replacing the valve body. Runs around $500... Southern Hotrod just started selling them too. Maybe one of the vendors here could check it out as another offering...

cool! just got off the phone with the master-fabricator, he says if there's enough interest, he'll look into doing a TC&driveshaft 'package' at a discount. he's going to put my car on the rack and check and see if a 'ONE-piece' drive shaft could be made, therefore eliminating the problematic carrier bearing.

In another thread, Woody mentioned that the throttle on the SRT,actually backs off a bit @ shift points, to soften the blow to the transmission.

Wonder if that is part of the ECU tune?

If it were eliminated it could help alot at the strip

Sounds great. Always nice to have options. Keep us posted.

I guess I held my tongue for too long on this mod...........I had a high stall TC built(and installed it myself) Christmas day last year. Ohh well, I guess I'll work faster next time.

Have you had the chance to test it at all?

Nope, that's why I kept my mouth shut(until now). I'm taking it out for testing at the dragstrip on Feb. 7th...............also got another "trick" up my sleeve that nobody else has yet.

I did reply concerning our driveshafts. Found out that our cars have 3 different types and listed the part numbers. An SRT-6 is all I can help out with. Squirrel Crusher

The 7.3L Power Stroke diesel in my F250 has a Banks Sidewinder Turbo system and their Transmission Controller.

With all that extra power - to get the addted torque to make the tranny shift strong when hauling heavy loads under hard excelleration - my Mom had a Banks' Billet Torque converter installed - it did require an added trans oil cooler mounted in front of the radiator. But this Banks package is solid.

I'm sold on them - look forward to see wht the LET converter does for our cars..

Banks is good stuff for the Ford but it is not recommended for the Duramax, I only mention this because you in the past stated someone (mom) maybe has one. If you decide to modify the Duramax, Suncoast and EFI live is the best and safest way to go.

3 different types??? do you mean 3 different part numbers on just SRT's? or completely different assemblies?

can any of you post pics of your driveshafts so we can look for discrepancies? this would be a great upgrade if we could get a one piece shaft without a carrier bearing. making it lighter and stronger doesn't hurt either!

thanks.

The LX cars and the SRT cars have different converters, similar trans.

Wow, thiis is a real "for dummies" question, but I gotta ask:

What's a high stall torque converter? How does it work, and why do I want one?

TIA,
Tom

Higher stall allows for more slippage in gear allowing you to bring engine rpm higher before rear wheels overpower brakes. It works by changing the stator and over run clutches. The principal behind it is that you can bring up engine rpms to a better hp/tq area in the power band for harder/faster launches. It is usually used in drag racing and sled pulling competitions
