If you are planning to keep the car, especially since it is an SRT, I think it would be a wise decision to go forward with an extended warranty plan. Of course, that is just my opinion. But, based on the amount of warranty work that I have had and you have had on your SRT, I would think that it would be a very good idea.

$1800 for a warranty is much better than pain $7,000 for a new supercharged. And you know that it is a better than average possibility based on your history all owning AMX 's and PT cruisers that you might destroy and engine or a rear end.

Same here repairs are so expensive. If i had to pay $ 7000 to repair, i may not want to spend, are have it to spend, an that would suck!

Don't forget though if they find out that you have a pulley, then your supercharger takes a dump, bye bye warranty claim. Bottom line is if they find out that a modified or aftermarket part caused the failure then you don't have a claim.

If you were to leave your car stock, which is hard to do, then I would say it's a good investment. If you mod it, you might be out the cost of the warranty plus the full cost to replace the part(s).

Only if the mod effects the portion which is damaged and it dependes on your relationship with the dealer.

I must have screwed something up... My quote for the maxcare warranty from the official Chrysler warranty (not a dealer bc I can't pay it in one lump sum, which is why they're a lot cheaper from dealers), anyway my price was $3200 from Chrysler corporate. My car was about 100 miles short of 36,000 (end of warranty) and I'm 22. You think age had anything to do with that price? Either way I'm gonna call them up and haggle after seeing some of the prices others were quoted on the forum.

I paid for an extended warranty on my last truck - never did use it.

BTW - you can get your supercharger completely overhauled for $1,495 + shipping.

I paid $1040 for 7/50,000. I don't drive the car that much but only bought the warranty really for the heated seats. They are expensive and problem prone. My wife uses the heated seats every time she is in the car. As far as repair for engine/ tranny I don't know, if the car is modded then they can deny any thing related. I would only buy a warranty based on the attitude of the dealership and the re pore you have with them as far as the mods go.

I was simply stating a possible situation. Not everyone has a "Relationship" with a dealer. You guys didn't even consider the fact that third party warranty companies don't give a **** what the dealer says, they have their own investigators.

Again I was just letting everyone, who mods their cars, know not to have a false sense of security because they have a warranty. After all is it really worth the aggravation fighting a dealership who is probably going to win anyway because you know what you did caused the failure?

This is for those of you who think this way—Take some f-ing responsibility for your actions!

I buy an extended warranty on every car I buy, I don't like driving a car out of warranty. It's nice having that peace of mind. I tend to keep my cars longer than the basic 3 years but not as long as the full extended warranty (about 7 years) so I cash it in when I sell it and usually get a decent amount back. Make sure you shop around, the difference in warranty prices between dealers can be quite a bit.

I've been thinking about an extended warranty for a while too. I think my warranty expires in April. Still not sure what to do, especially with Chrysler's current situation.
I haven't been able to get the www.chryslerservicecontracts.com site to work. I keep getting a bandwidth exceeded error.

I just yesterday purchased a 7/70 100 ded maxcare from one of our forum members, Justin Bean, who works at a Chrysler dealership in Beloit WI. The process was very smooth on the phone, and Justin did a really nice job. I paid 1465 for the contract, which basically gives me peace of mind re: this car. Will I end up using it? probably not as the car is built really well, no problems in 12,000 miles, so probably won't show up. But i was really concerned about overall repair cost if something did break, and this just makes me feel more secure about the whole thing. I'd recommend calling Justin if you're interested. I researched these for months, both Chrysler and after market, and this was in my opinion the best all around at a fair price. i did find a nice aftermarket for 1200 for 100K but to be honest I just don't trust marketers very much at all. maybe they were really good, but what they say upfront and what they actually do is two complete different items alot of the time.
