Default refused loan vehicle

times must be tough - five star dealer wouldn't give me a loan vehicle when i brought my car in for warranty repairs and the car has to be held overnight.

what is the deal with this? everyone says the car was sold as a premium vehicle and loaners are included for any service?

They tried that with me, so I brought them copies of the warranty. They ended up giving me a loaner for one day only. What a joke, I hate being treated like I sack! This is one of the main reasons I miss owning a luxury brand vehicle.

In the premium package you should be getting up to a week in free rental, I have used this policy many times on my 04 and 05, also have had the car for 7 days in some instantances, and never had a problem getting a loaner either from the dealer or Enterprise car rental, you need to take the matter up with the service manager, or find another dealer, then report that dealer to Chrysler, and if you get a survey from them, slam them hard about the rental.

I just had my steering damper replaced under warranty and the dealership wanted the car for one day. I received my free one-day rental, you should get that rental for any reason they perform service lasting a day or longer.

From what I remember, they have to give you a car IF you have a SCHEDULED appointment. Even if it's an oil change, as long as you called ahead to make arrangements, it's part of the Premium Package. I have the documentation at home in the glove box. I'll check tonite.

Angry Re: refused loan vehicle

Yeah it was a scheduled appointment with a five-star dealer. When I dropped it off they said they'd have it back to me by the end of the day, but it went into the next day. I told the guy what you guys said the other day, and he replied he didn't see that information pertaining to the car when he looked it up on the computer (warranty, etc.)

Anyways, I got the car back today. They replaced both headlamp covers (wow looks so good now!), rattling hatch, bad fuel pump, and tranny leak. Still awaiting the seat chassis from overseas because I get rocking on accel / decel.

When I take it in for the seat chassis replacement, I'm showing them any documentation I have to prove that I'm entitled to a loaner. I'd even drive around in a minivan for a day, just give me something at least!

the dealership has my vehicle right now for a PCM they damaged during service to get the cupholder replaced and steering bolts tightened lol. The part will take 2-3 days to order and will be here by tuesday. i have been rocking the dodge charger for almost 4 days now and will be using it all next week. my dealership has no issues with giving me a loaner. i have had rentals for almost a month. i had a beetle, charger, couple 300'c. i caught the dealer make a huge mistake and now they are scared shitless.

I'm not even taking the risk for small issues. I have the seat rock now, so I fixed it by putting the seat against the back bulkhead, I have the rattle hatch, so I used the DIY electrical tape fix, and my headlights are doin' ok for now. I'm not letting those hacks touch my car again. Last time, they ruined my interior by trying to troubleshoot the seatbelt alarm (which they never fixed).

Also, I have been told in the past that if you buy the car used, you don't get the premium. loaner package.

I'm sure you already know this, but just for the information of any new owners reading these posts - the seat rocking is likely caused by damage done to the track when backing up the seat into the bulkhead, thus fixed by totally backing it into the bulkhead

Regarding other people working on things... I do all of the work on my motorcycles, from transmission rebuilds to mounting and balancing new tires. With only two wheels contacting the road, there's no room for error when a mechanic forgets to tighten a drain plug or properly torque your axle. I'll take that into my own hands, thank you.

For now I'll use that crossfire warranty to fix all problems until it runs out, then I'm gladly wrenching on my own.

Chrysler dealers are a joke and that 5-star designation is meaningless.

I think 5 stars means they are 5 times more incompetent then the rest.

I really wish I could do harm to them!!

Ditto for me - I have my SRT6 at the Dodge dealer today - but just to replace a leaking headlamp while I'm still under the factory warranty (exactly one year left)

I can agree with almost everyone. In the one time I had to leave my SRT coupe, I was given a PT Cruiser to drive(ha) man, what a letdown.....and since in my visits I agree that none of the guys know what they are doing. The last time is was a guess and parts were ordered. (I would be called when they arrived.) I never got the call, the problem with the A/C problem went away.

Just to add my $0.02 worth... I've had my car in the shop several times for various issues (mostly
all minor, but requiring days to get the parts). My dealer does not do "loaners", but they do have
a deal with the local Enterprise Rental shop. However, I was treated quite shabbily the first time
I got the rental, that on the second time I walked out of the Enterprise Rental shop and walked back to the Dealership. As I went out the door, I told the folks behind the Enterprise counter,
"Watch this, this is $160 walking out your door".

Maybe I was wrong, but I would not give them my credit card when they asked. I told them I was
not renting the car, the Dealership was. I was just a driver. So, they pulled out this form that asked
for not only my insurance, date of birth, next of kin and the kicker, 3 references. When I got back to
the Dealership, I pretty much read them the riot act, and asked them why they didn't just have the
car delivered to the Dealership lot and let me just drive off from there. Got a BS story (obviously,
as I've had such service from other Dealers in the past) about their insurance.

The third time I needed a rental, I asked the Service Manager to make sure there would be no
hassles at the Enterprise Rental shop, and he assured me all was taken care of. Lo and Behold,
when I got to Enterprise, they wanted my credit card. I walked out again. Since that time, I've
pretty much told my Service Manager that they would just have to pay me for renting my own
second vehicle (Jeep Comanche). This has worked out much better.

However, the last time I had a service issue that required the car to be in the shop for a week,
Idler pulley replacement, the Service Manager convinced me that there would be no issues at
Enterprise. But, he lied. Same story, same walk back to the Dealership. After I got back to the
Dealership, and explained that I should not have to be going through this crap, the Service
Manager called Enterprise and read them the riot act. I went back over there and they didn't
give me any crap about needing my credit card. The only reason they did this, in my mind, was
that the Service Manager threatened to take the Dealership's rental business to another car
rental agency.

Getting my rental has always been a hassle, and I really do envy you guys who get loaners
from your Dealership. Even a PT Cruiser would be cool, so long as there is no hassle. What
have I gotten on the two times I took the Rental? A monster Durango that barely fit in my
Garage, and an even more monster RAM 3400, that I didn't even try to get in my garage. Both
times, I felt like I was back in the cab of a tractor-trailer rig (used to deliver roof trusses in an
earlier life).

So, I hope you all have a better experience, and I hope you all enjoy your loaners.

Coyote

That's the cost of doing business. If people are damaging your loaner vehicles, charge them for their actions.

I've had excellent service from Enterprise (I rent large commercial trucks and vans for business) but for whatever reason, the biggest hassle I got was the counter at the Chrysler dealer. Go figure.

Both times I got a rental from my dealer it was a beat to hell 10 year old chevy junk. They didn't even have the class to make it a chrysler product.
