Time for a Tune! (tons of Qs)
This should be the FUN part!!!! Coming from previous turbo cars (STi, Mazdaspeed3) where tunes seemed to make a world of difference for aiding performance modes. Cobb Stage 2 (TBE + tune) completely woke my STi up! Felt like a new car!
HOW?: I've done the two major mods prior to the tune for my 6: NW CAI, and Pulley. It's my understanding that most send their ECUs in physically to get the tune installed. I not really fond of that idea. The concept of sending my ECU via Snail Mail/UPS/Fed Ex worries the heck out of me!!! Is there another way? I know some offer you a laptop rental to do the upload yourself- which is preferable (and familiar, Cobb was a user owned hand-held ecu flasher) because the car will have no down-time and no stress about my ECU in-transit. However they come along with some HEFTY down-payments.
WHICH?: Which tune should I go with. I'm only aware of two major ones- the LET tune and In Motion's. I'm sort of leaning towards In Motion because of Rob's seemingly close dealings with them. Please sound off about which you feel is best and why- thanks!
EXPECTATIONS?: Both the CAI and Pulley claim aprox 20-30 whp each. Now when combined I don't know if that necesarily nets 40-60 whp but how much does the tune improve power OVER what I already have (parts w/o tune)?
FUTURE?: How about when I add parts- ie Needswings Manis, etc? I know when you add the Manis you need a tune for it because of the extra airflow. So how does one deal with that? Install it and not drive it till you get the tune? Or get the tune and run rich until the install is complete?
Thanks in advance!

TVT can do a custom tune for you and he is within driving distance. Just up the road in South Plainfield area. I planned to have this done when I'm finished with all of my mods. Good luck and make sure you sign up for the Carlise car show this July.
