Default Port and Polish TB?

I have been waiting forever for someone to come out with a larger TB for the C32. I remember vadim saying an 80mm TB could be good for 15 - 20 whp but it would be expensive to make an 80 mm work on C32, a new housing needs to be made and that is expensive.

Vadim also mentioned that port/polishing the stock TB to 76 would net 5-10 whp and possibly more for those running more boost (my own thinking). I know it might be only 5-10 whp, but doing that would be a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a cam or something. Just seems that I'm running out of things to do besides nitrous and the other performance mod (headers) I may shortly do.

Anyone thinking about messing with the TB soon? I think this may be my next mod along with headers/rims and could use some opinions or direction. I need more power!

Josh,
I believe that TVT is selling the 74mm V8 TB now. Not 76 but bigger that what we have. Opening to 76mm would also require replacing the plate wouldnt it? Is there a stock MB that uses that size?

i talked to VRP about buying their larger 5.4L throttle body, and they said it will not fit.

stock C32 AMG TB is 74. I'm guessing its the same for the SRT6. The TB can be ported/polished up to the butterfly from the intake and not require a new housing or plate.

going to 80 would require the new housing/plate.

I believe this to be an oversimplification. The 80mm *could* fit, but would need some custom fabbed parts to make it work, which costs $$$$.

MikeR - what size is the stock TB on C32/SLK32/SRT6? I thought it was 74mm...?

EDIT: nevermind, Josh beat me to it

Sorry, TVT is offering the 74mm TB for the NA cars...

Since the TB is just a short tube, I dont see porting and polishing one half being of much value. Opening it up to a bigger diameter, that would make a difference.

What custome parts do I need to make to make the 80mm fit? I need pics and dimensions. Would the ECU auto adapt to having that much more air? Retune needed?

just spoke with AMS Performance. Apparently there are working on one (or will start shortly) for the M112K motor (SLK32/C32/SRT6). Gonna be a 78 or 80 me thinks. See link:
