I have the E10, E12, E14 but not E11 socket. A fellow on the MBworld forums had a shop bugger up the E11 on the tensioner pulley making do with the wrong tool so I'm not inclined to use a socket that almost fits. E11 or wait. We don't have Checkers or O'reilly in P.R. I did find a couple tool suppliers in the yellow pages but today is a holiday in P.R. and most shops are closed. I'll find one, its just a matter of a few phone calls tomorrow.

Since I couldn't work on the car I went to the beach with my Yorkie. Usually she runs over to the skanky people because they always have food but today .... she was friendly with the hot, hot chicks! It made me forget that darned E11 and make me think of those C36's.

I have found that shims on shafts can cause problems when the hole in the shim does not allow for the radius in the corner of the shaft. The shim is forced into the radius but never fits against the shaft face like it should. It looks like this could be that situation, but I am not familiar with the set up you have.

If shims are not required on the factory pulleys then they should not be required for any after market pulleys. Shims are to compensate for manufacturing errors, that means the maker says 'we do not throw out poorly made parts we ship a shim with it instead.'

I snapped some pics of the two pullies. The smooth ribbed one is the one I had issues with. This one was sent to me last November and it sat until spring.

The new one is a bit different. I see it was mentioned that C3 went back to the old style because they grip better? It looks like the "new" one that just showed up is "old" style?

Does it look like any of yours?
The new one that just showed up on the left, the one I got in Novemeber on the right. Overall the new one looks like it was put together better. I will probably get it installed tomorrow after work.

i think you have the first gen sc pulley. I have the second gen pulley but there no ribs, its smooth all the way around like the pulley on the right but it uses shims.

replaced with a new stainless steel one. Don't know when,

I installed the "new" pulley this morning in a half hung over stooper before work. 10 mins later I was done. Such a simple install, such a simple swap

Oh boy did this car get fun I installed my SVO CAI this weekend, that with the pulley made will hold me over for a few days, Im sure I will want to do something next.

(suppose that johnson pump and Konis I bought last spring could be next)

I like the looks of the original steel pulley. I'll post pics of my aluminum pulley for comparison and quality check after work.

I wonder why there are so many variations.

I just hope mine works right the first time. It looks good, the base is square as far as I can tell and I want trouble free power. I'll know soon enough. But I have a good feeling about my Code 3 pulley.

any new news? i am currious about the code 3... i dont plan on doing much to the car but a code 3 and tune sounds tempting and easy... i also have an offer for a 181 setup... just not sure which to go with.

Still loving the code 3. Such a simple install/swap. Worth it right there.
