Default SRT6 Mods for a New STR6 Owner! Help!

Hey guys, I just bought my first SRT6 Crossfire and had just a few questions for you guys.

First off, I'm used to going fast (own a very modified Grand National) so I'm curious as to which mods for the Crossfire are the safest, most effective and can pass through a manufacturers warranty, or atleast be removed if any work needs to be done!

I had seen that there are some Air intake kits but was unsure as to which ones are most effective. Also I am interested in the ECU tuning, but I am of course very cautious to jump into it because it might hurt not only the car, but my wallet if the waranty becomes void from doing anything to the ECU.

So if ya'll could, please let me know what my best options are for the above two mods, as well as any other mods you feel i should really check out!

Thanks tonss!!

Kolme

Well, the first I did was a Needswings intake. It actually makes some power and allows the supercharger to be heard. I just installed a Code 3 supercharger pulley. I choose it over the others for the ease of instal and ease of going back to stock. It had a few quality control issues, but it works good. It seems (no dyno proof) to really boost power in the midrange. I can't say I feel much difference at redline ... but that's mostly because I loose traction so badly that the car is shifting early. I've read the Code 3 won't show much increase in peak power. I can't tell you about a tune, still don't have one.

Just call or visit EuroCharged.

Warranty is going to depend on the dealer more than anything else.

If you want to go fast, talk with eurocharged and LET. If you want to go warp speed talk to Needsings and inMotion! :P just a joke guys, relax.

Welcome to the forum.
I went with the needswings intake,Code 3 pulley and the ECU tune from Tony at TVT Design.
Car runs like a bear. Will over power the traction control if you push it.

Depends on how much wrenching your going to do yourself. Mine is under warranty and I won't take it in. Unless something major happens and I have no choice, but most cases they do more damage than repair. You'll have to change your IC pump, then start modding. My mods are in my signature below along with my vids. For me Needswings is the only place to go, but each has their own opinion. My setup is very streetable, yet dipped into the 11's at the track. Biggest difference is my AFR's are safe all the way through the powerband, no leaning out.

Thanks for the help guys!

Ah so replacing the IC pump is a must? It may already be experiencing it's first problems since i could feel a lack of power around the upper gears...(I'm thinking this is fairly indicative). Would it be smarter to have it checked out and if needed, replace under the warranty by the mercedes/chrysler where I live, or have a personal mechanic take a look and ultimately do the work? (He works on specialty cars).

And I noticed TVT, LET, and INmotion all do ECU tunes, does any1 have a good idea which one is probably the route to go? Or is it kinda just preference?

Also, the previous owner, as i found out this morning, must have accidentally blown the two tweeters in the car... ... I was wondering if any of you knew if it was a compontent system from infinity or not, and how difficult it is to remove the door panel on this car? Unsure since I've never removed a mercedes door panel....

You guys are a ton of help! and I'll deff. be around the forums... (Probably asking more questions ). If anybody has any tips etc for me let me know!!! Huge car fanatic so i'm really looking forward to having fun with one these rare machines... Thanks!!!

Thumbs up Re: SRT6 Mods for a New STR6 Owner! Help!

Longish thread on OEM speakers is here.

The search tools on this forum are quite nice. Most of the big issues on the cars have been well documented. A good SRT bang for the buck mod thread is here.

PMing a thread poster is probably the quickest way to get clarification for an answer. Several board members are specialists in particular areas like OEM stereos and stereo mods.

Don't forget to take some time off the computer to enjoy your riide!

Again it depends on if you have the rare good service department. Most want to change a list of other parts, only for them not to change the pump. I have a tweeter out as well and will just take my time and change it myself. Member sowardcustoms can get it for around 20 bucks. He works in parts and gives us all great prices.

On the tunes. TVT and LET offer the same tune. TVT is a sublet of LET. LET produced the 181 and 185 crank pullies and their tunes are geared towards them. IMO still perfecting to get the extra power from the larger pulley without leaning on top end or requiring other fuel modifications. They do tune for the 178 as well. LET and TVT is the only one who dyno tunes.

InMotion has developed his tune with Needswings for the ASP 178 crank pulley, IMO is the best and safest tune out there to date. The records prove it. Also with data from member MD, has the best tune for the 181 pulley. As he has set all the records with it. I am bias to NW/InMotion so take that into consideration. No dyno tuning. Most tunes are specific to be used with NW products and have been dyno tuned by NW. There are unlimited retunes for free, if you choose to datalog and have your tune adjusted or continue to add mods. LET also offers this as well.

Both InMotion and LET also have tunes for the SC pulley. As mentioned before probably the most difficult pulley for a dealer to notice, but also not in the same league as the crank pullies. It's gaining ground with the new dual CAI's from NW, will be interesting this summer. Some have tried using both a crank pulley and SC pulley often referred to stacking, and neither tuner has developed a tune that does not go lean at top end. This summer will have more testing going on from both tuners, so there will probably be a fresh batch of tunes this fall. Keep on eye out on Jfire's thread, we are all curious how he will do at the track. He has all bolt ons and no pullies.

Good luck and unfortunately won't be in the 9's like the GN's. Might be worth waiting until the end of summer to see what new mod combo's break into the 11's.

You can't go wrong with the simple intake, tune, and Code-3 pulley and exhaust if you want it louder. My dealer hasn't questioned anything while in for service several times.

welcome to the forum, feel free to shoot me a pm with any questions. for a fun everyday enjoyable car you cant beat the cai/pulley/tune combo, capable of 12.3's on a good launch and still civilized, only thing dealer would notice would be the cai tube. depends on your dealer but most customers get compliments on them instead of trouble from the service advisor as all emmissions systems are left in place.
