Default NW Super Cooler installed (radiator fan running more often now???)

Finally got around to having my NeedWings Super Cooler installed last week. Got a chance to drive it a few times since. I haven't noticed lower temps the needle still sticks around the center mark. Should it register slightly below? Then again I haven't driving it in high temps (85-90 degrees) before I had the Super Cooler installed.

One thing I did notice was at stop lights my radiator fan turns on. I NEVER remember it doing this before. It may be normal as this is my first summer with the SRT6 (I bought it this past winter). But I just wanted to check to see if this was: 1) Normal and...2) Caused by the Super Cooler in any way.

TIA

I've noticed about a 15% increase in fan running (city traffic). But the needle is about 1 notch below mid point now. Did you separate the cooling systems?

As the father of the super cooler, it will not lower the temp of the engine, you need the 180 stat I designed and posted to do that -----------------bUt that will not lower the temp unless your moving to cause air thru the core.

The computer will maintain the same stock temp if you have NO stat. They control the fan to get the temp. You need a lo stat and you need to have forward motion to get below the 1/2 scale. They use the stat for fast heat up and the fans to modulate and control the engine temp. In the summer the fans will only come on to cool the motor down to - not below the factory settings.

I have a picture of my testing a year ago if I can find it and by the way you should gaze at my gallery as most of my projects are there with the exception of the fuel controller, belt kit Rob is starting production on, and my super manifold changes. The super manifold will be installed after Carlisle due to racing and time constraints.

BANG BANG Boom Woody on the 4th.

I have not separated the coolant- however I do have the mod that Rob sells. I didn't do it because I knew it would be messy. I thought- "maybe another time". lol

Now I'm assuming that because the fan is running more often my engine is actually running hotter- is this true? Will this cause any problems?!

My knowledge is so elementary when it comes to this stuff- please excuse my ignorance: If the radiator helps cool the engine- what does the Super Cooler cool- the SC?

Finally, Woody, regarding this "stat" you are mentioning. Is it a modified Thermostat? Similar to the one Chris is running (simply has a hole drilled in it or something?). How easy is it to install? How can I get it?

Mainly my concern is that I'll be doing damage to the engine driving around in the heat. I'm not used to the fan running so often. At every stop light it would kick on!

The Needswings supercooler is not suppose to lower engine temps it is suppose to lower IAT's. You need a data logger to see if you have a change in the IAT's.

My stat is a different body by stant that drops in the car using the stock modified housing. It is a super stant that is 180 degrees.

Drilling holes in stats is only to bleed air, they are not cooler and just a trick for the unwary. Woody Enjoy the holiday. W DY
