Are our brakes the same ones as on the slk32?
Simple question...a guy I was showing the car to said he didn't think they look like AMG gear...and I suppose they DO usually have a big "AMG" brand on there...
dont know if your brakes are the same but heres the specs on mine.
front rotors are 334 mm ventilated with 4 piston calipers
rear rotors are 300 mm ventilated with 2 piston calipers.
neither the front or the rear calipers on the slk32 have the amg logos
the c32 4 door sedan has the amg logo calipers
hope this answers the question

That is the difference.... SLK32 has the 4 piston front and 2 piston rear....SRT6 has 2 piston front and 1 piston rear. Same rotor size. I am saving my nickels for a set of C32 AMG rotors and calipers.

BTW, C32 calipers will bolt on but you have to swap the right and left calipers, which results in having the wrong leading/trailing pistons. Not a big deal, but it can lead to uneven rotor wear/warping and brake squeal.
If you don't have a problem with that minor issue, then you should also consider SLK55/CLK63 brakes. Bigger, lighter and way cooler.
of course you can go really really big!!

Ahhhhh, I happen to have a SLK55 in the shop that I will be replacing the calipers and rotors on very soon on both fronts and possibly the rears.

It's a buddy of mine's car. He was playing on slick roads with ESP off and when he hit the brakes at a "decent amount of speed" the car kicked sideways and slid over a center median. The initial estimate on the car is $24,000 in damages to all the suspension, all wheels, engine cradle, exhaust, etc. I laughed at him because he has a 528awhp Subaru that he's never wrecked. I guess he now knows the true difference between an AWD car and a RWD car.
Hi there,
I've been following this forum for about a year now, its great what you guys do on here.
Not meaning to step on anybody's toes here but on my SLK32 front discs are 334 mm and the front calipers are sliding two piston Ate's.
Hope this helps in anyway.

2002 SLK32 Tech Data
BAM
looks like we got the same brakes.
On a side note, anyone know why some places(wikipedia for one) are reporting the slk32 to be capable of 0-60 in 4.5, and as having 354 hp?
Did they get an upgrade recently?
side note:
That website also says that the tranny in the slk downshifts automatically, and holds gears until shifted up...erm....is something wrong with mine? unless they mean the kickdown to shift down...? And I thought our cars automatically upshift at redline?
we do have the AMG transmission right?

If Krazy is still on this thread, I'd be interested in finding out what's up with his brakes...maybe different MYs had different brakes? Maybe he is not the first owner and they switched them..?
no im not the first owner but the calipers are the factory oem. slk32 didnt have the amg logos on their calipers. 4 piston front 2 piston rear. the pics from the tech data you found are my calipers
On that page he states that they are 2 on the front...where are you getting your info? have you had a look at them yourself?
Those ones on the site look identical to the srt6 ones on the outside, I should know, I took mine off and painted them

does this make sense to you? my calipers are prolly the same as yours but i have never seen the srt-6 front calipers so i cant say for sure. if they are the same as the tech page you refer to then they are 4 piston front and 2 piston rear.
Crossfire front calipers have two pistons on one side only and rears have one piston on one side only. You count the pistons on each side when defining what you have.
SLK = 4 & 2
SRT = 2 & 1
I would love to have the SLK55 8 & 4 piston calipers and rotors, but I dont know if they would fit in my SRT wheels. Or how much the mounting difference is.
