Default Flash Tunes

Who's gotten one, and what before and after improvements did you have? Also, where did you get it from (only ones I know of are LET/Eurocharged and InMotion, possibly Renntech)?

Both dyno numbers and track numbers would be helpful.

Please include mods.

Before I started adding toys to my SRT6. We had it in the shop to get baseline numbers.

We dyno'd the car 100% stock and it had 252rwhp on the dyno dynamics (don't remember the torque). 100% stock I ran 13.12 @ 107.48. Then a week later we flashed the car really quickly with a Stage I file. Dyno'd it again and ended up with 276rwhp). Again, I don't remember what the exact tq was, but I believe that the gains were somewhere around 25rwhp/30rwtq. Everything else was stock on the car (except Johnson pump, but that doesn't count).

No dyno sheets for these as about a month later she went under the knife again.

come on, nobody else has done a flash tune?

I'm just as interested in bad experiences as good anyway, so don't shy away for that reason

I didn't do a baseline but after adding a Needswings Intake, Code 3 Supercharger pulley and a LET tune I pulled a 333whp on a DynoJet.

Did you gain 16rwhp with the HE and exhaust? I thought that it was generally accepted that neither of those items would gain rwhp on a dyno.

Stock I put down 290 whp, 303 tq, 13.2 1/4 mile. Added a pulley, tune, cai, exhaust and now at 340 whp, 330 tq, and 12.1 1/4. So a 50 hp gain with mine is pretty good to me.

My friend's shop uses a DynoCom Dyno so to be honest I don't know if the exhaust helped since I switched dyno's. It was also 70*F when I got the 349whp. I ran it a few months ago in 90*F weather and I only pulled a 314whp.

HE isn't an HP modification. It allows the car to not pull timing if your car is tuned for it. I am contemplating putting he stock exhaust back on once the weather cools down here since my fastest time was in some pretty cold non-humid conditions. There's also a chance that my tune is messed up since I got the car flashed with the added exhaust, not a dyno tune. If you get an exhaust you need to dyno tune it. I'm hoping to get it done before the end of the year

I have also had a "flash" tune, and a "custom" tune. I honestly can't say I could tell a difference between the two. In fact, I had my flash tune done right before going to the Dragon. I couldn't tell any difference.

Now, that's not all the info though. I was having boost leak problems at the time too, so I'm sure that detracted from the whole setup.

I believe I have the boost leak problems fixed, but I'm still getting less performance than I think I should. Mine dynoed at 353 whp and 353 torque. That's with all the mods listed in my signature, including the custom tune.

It's odd, since Mimi05SRT6 right above has the same pulley as me, and a tune from the same company as me, he also has a CAI (not the same brand but what the heck). The major differences between our cars is that I have the intake manifolds, he doesn't, and he has a magnaflow exhaust and I don't.

Yet compare the hp numbers and the drag times. He's putting down 340 whp and 330 tq and getting 12.1 ETs. I'm putting down 353 whp and 353 tq, and getting 12.5 ETs. Hmmmm...

Anyway, back to the OP's original question:
You're right, there are basically two brands of ECU tuning for our cars: LET/Eurocharged and InMotion. Sure you can get one from RENNtech or EVOsport, but you'll pay through the nose.

Does it really matter? InMotionUSA is the best in my opinion hands down. We'll just start back and forth and everybody will come up with excuses why their not faster yet. Some like dyno queens and some like timeslips. It's a personal preference. So far a dyno tune from anybody else has not beat a flash tune from InMotion at the track. I'm not even the fastest with a flash tune. MD has done 11.5's off spray and 10.7's on spray all on a flash tunes from InMotion. My mods are posted all over this site. Still only took a single NW intake, ASP 178 pulley, Hoosiers, and InMotion tune get me in the 11's in the highest DA so far.
I've said it before, my tune is specific to the mods that Rob tested for it. Mix and Match and results have not been the same.

Jeff also had porting work done on his so you can't compare Jeff with anyone on here really. I honestly think you and I should be the side by side comparisons on the different tunes only because we seem to have the most experience on the track and our 60fts are close as well as our mods. Lets face it, after you get your launch down, the car pretty much does the rest for you. Is your best time on the 93 tune 11.89@117? In what air? I ran a best of 11.97@114 in good cool air (most of my runs were 12.0-12.2). Not exactly sure what the DA was, but it wasn't anywhere near 2100ft! lol. Your trap MPH's are much higher than mine leaving me to believe you are not leaning out at all at the top like I am. I will have my "new" custom LET/Jerry tune soon. I am eager for the results (hopefully positive).

Yea Jeff's in a different league.

I think our setups should be pretty close with you having the edge due to your DA. My best DA is probably your worst. My best with the 93 tune was the 11.97 at 2100'DA, and the 11.89 was on the 100 octane with mani's, and ypipe but DA was 1600'. So a tenth could have been the DA too. It's just so hard to pick up a tenth when your that low already. I only had the 93 tune for a couple of months and switched to the 100 tune because I was going to famoso and wanted to have any advantage I could get. Seat of the pants didn't tell me much difference of the two tunes. I'm a firm believer that the exhaust on this car stock is the best the car has to offer. That's why I didn't alter mine. At some point I'll look at my plugs, but won't be until after this winter to see if I pick up some .00?'s with the dual intake and see if the consistency is still there from my times in January. I have 6000 miles now on the car, so I'm curious to see if there was any truth to the rumor the car wakes up after 5000 miles.

Your also right once you learn how to lauch the car, it's the easiest 11 seconds your going to find. Good luck and look forward to seeing you shatter my 11.89.

Ok so basically your 93 InMotion Tune is my LET stage II tune we'll say. From our runs, the only difference is the DA. Yours being 2100' and mine, if I were to guess, probably around 500' or better. Technically I should put up better numbers, but due to mine leaning out at the top end, I am not. This is probably why you are trapping a few mph's better at the stripe. What is your 1/8 mph? Mine is right around 88-89mph. So.......would you say that LET's Stage II tune is comparable to InMotions 93 tune? I believe once I get this leaning issue fixed, I will be consistantly in the 11's in good air. I have some other things still in the works, but for now I want to see if the tune can get me there.

Distant,
My best is 11.96 at 113.9mph, 60' was 1.71, the 1/8 was 7.678 @ 91.7mph. I think I am loosing something at the high end as my trap speed has dropped below 114 and I was above 115. Still trying to get that little bit more and break under 11.8. The good weather is coming on now and I need to get to the track and see how low I can go. We should be at or below sea level anytime now.

For the OP: I have a LET flash tune.

Yea that sounds about right. I have to hunt down my 11.97 slip, but my 12.02 was 90.11 mph and my 11.89 was 92 mph at the 1/8th. I've done the time splits on here before and my 660' on to the 1320' is comparable to a high 10's bracket car. Your about tenth slower than mine in comparable DA, and probably is due to leaning. This winter I hope to run sub 1000' at sacramento, we can compare lower DA then.

Mike I see you have gauges but have you logged any of your passes in low DA? You probably have run in the best DA any of us have had besides Thumper.

I have to get the bung installed so I can install the Zietronix. Maybe in the next couple of weeks.

Myself and possibly distant would be curious to your afr's on the top. If yours are good under 500' DA then distant could use the tune you are running. Still your mph isn't high either. Definitely should be on your must do before you hit the track again.

I would bet a good bit of money Mikey is lean on the top in good air. At 11.96, his mph should be higher. By no means am I talking smack on LET, but every tune I had so far went crazy lean in 3rd in good air. Not sure why, but we are working on it!

How lean are you going in 3rd gear? in the 13's? What is your a/f ratio averaging on the top end?
