Default Rear Differential Fluid (Old & New)

So since I've been starting to mod the car finally, I'm starting to change out the fluids.

I used the directions at slk32.com, and decided to change out the rear diff fluid. The stuff that came out was NASTY black and smelled like rotten eggs... From what I could find on-line, the OEM stuff is non-synthetic 90w. I went with Lucas 75-90w Full Synthetic lube.

Funny, old vs. new fluid looks like Guiness beer vs. Bud Light... lol

BTW, I have 52k on the car.

Gear oil stinks becauseof the additives. At 12,000 I changed mine when I put the Limited slip in and after checking it I saw nothing black and after many more hours of hard driving I rechecked it to see honey color.

BTW when I was in there I added a magnet to the housing, its a woody thing for security. Belts and suspenders you know the OLD ONES...............

OH yeah I added the posi additive to the rear to assist the LSD and it seems to assist the operation.

Yeah, I figured the OEM stuff looked/smelled that way from the get-go.

BYW, I'm jealous... I only wish I could afford to throw a pretty looking LSD in there like yours! Baby steps right? lol

(edit: LSD, not LCD... lol)

I was the first or next to it. I sent the differential to them as they had to size up the unit to fit and have since sold many for the Crossfire. It was my first independant rear topull out and reassemble. I sent the gears when I did it . Adding it is not too hard, about $400. Woody
