Smile SRT troublefree

With the exception of the steering damper leaking oil and being replaced under warranty at 17,000 odometer miles, my crossfire has been troublefree I replace the oil every 5000 miles each Fall before I put the Crossfire in heated storage for the winter. During the winter I start it every two weeks , back it and drive it forward a few times , and let the engine warm up fully. I don't race it but , I also don't baby it. I've gone thru three sets of Continentals on the rear and am due for a new set of four in the Spring, when I am contemplating having GY eagle fi a/s installed. Has anyone else had a simular or better experience?

I change my oil every fall also. The only problems I have had with mine are one headlight delaminating and the cd player ate a cd and stopped working. Both were fixed under warranty.

I change mine every 7,000 miles, and I race, but the car has been trouble free so far. But with less than 25,000 on the odometer, that's no surprise.

Mine's got 18200 and is in storage for winter. I change oil and filter in the Fall before I put it up. Start it once a month in the winter.

I have a set of General's I put on at 12,000 miles and they're fine.

I had the transmission leak which was fixed under warranty. The tires didn't last, but that was caused by my youthful driving. So far the car has been much better than average.

I have had no problems so far with 29,000 miles. I changed from Conti's to Kumo's. The Conti's were noisey on the road. The Kumo's have some noise at slow speeds but find them nice and quite at highway speeds. Seems the faster I go the quiter they get. Maybe it's the passenger screaming?

Jim,

Your tire replacement figures are high relative to mine, my XF has 7800 miles on it and it is still on the stock set of contis with plenty of tread left to spare.

Good one! LOL

I go through one set of rear tires a year, and that's about 11,000 miles. But I drive it like I stole it, so YMMV - literally. My fronts lasted pretty well, and didn't need replaced until the tire shop ruined one while mounting it on new rims. So I ended up replacing the fronts and rears.

Sonoronos.....The conti's on the rear of my SRT were at the wear bars at 5,000 to 7,000 and slicks at 8,000 to 9,000,and I don't even do any drifting, however occassionally my thirty year old son takes it with a friend. Maybe I should check the tread depths when he leaves and when he returns.

72,498 on the SRT & the most reliable car I've ever owned. I've had the CD player replaced twice under warranty, replaced the IC pump at 70K after it started to do the surge thing, replaced a headlamp bulb & just recently had the tranny fluid replaced. Besides the CD & IC pump the rest of this stuff could be considered normal maintenance; in fact, given how well the OEM Bosch pumps last I would consider it "normal" maintenance as well!
I've run nothing but the Goodyear F1 A/S on both cars (except in winter when the '04 gets a set of Dunlop Winter Sports) & I'm not overly impressed by them. They don't last for much more than 20K & get noisy after 15K or so.
That being said, they are less expensive than some other brands for A/S & handle VERY well in crappy weather. I'll probably try some different tires when this set is due for replacement but it all depends on my budget when the time comes around.

You should be getting more miles on your tires that 8-9K. Was the wear even? Sometimes the camber can be way out causing uneven wear. I have Falken's. Even though they are a soft tire, given the current wear and mileage, I estimate I will get about 15K out of them before I have to replace.

The wear was relatively even, however on occassion I found slight overinflation ,which could account for the centers being somewhat more worn. I really don't need the softer rubber compound of the Conti Sport Contact 3, for my style of driving, and I will be going with GY eagle fi a/s. They will also be more helpful in getting me out of a Minnesota winter, if I want to go after the snow flies

Also, in MN. if caught travelling in excess of 100mph, there is immediate six mo. revocation of your drivers license, plus a hefty fine.

I have 22k on my 6 with the Michelin PS2's. Only 2 problems so far the tranny leak and the headliner issue. I think I'm going to swap to Bridgestones next time I need tires. Have them on my rex and they lasted 40k. But that is a much lighter car.
