Sliced two fingers real bad on a prop....couldn't believe it when I did it!

Oh ya would have laughed...towed a 3785 Searay with twins and v-drives in with a 25'pontoon in 40 mph headwind!.....Dummy forgot to open his sea valves so he smoked both motors by over heating them...melted the hell out of everything drive boots, wires, everything!

 

that was a major mistake...more money than brains I suppose, and yeah, I have come close to cutting mine on the inboard prop as well...no more boating for the old doctster...everything is gone..RV/Malibu Response/ski equip...although I barefooted mostly....I get 5 hrs out of tank....which is about 18 average, but foot in it a lot...

 

Yeah I could never get outa boating....Races start the 27th of this month....you should come up one time!
Friend of mine I sold my boat to is gonna run it this year.

 

I'm getting around 19 mpg. I drive mostly on the highway and average 65-70. Unfortunately, I get stuck in traffic so I'm not sure if that is keeping me from getting better gas milage. I can't believe that people are getting 25 mpg.

well i guess i have you all beat , sence i owned my srt6 I have driven 11000 miles,, two years this month
the average for the 11000 miles is about 11 mpg the best i have gotten ,on a 400 mile trip was 16 ,, and of course the last tank full with my new rear end installed (stock rear end just replaced it) i got about 6.1 mpg so

best mpg 16
worse mpg 4

And i'm known for my "spirited" driving :-P
I was shocked after seeing some in the teens..

edit// Well I didn't notice this was in the SRT 6 forum.. I'm sure the supercharger has something to do with the mpg..

 

I have a 2006 SE Roadster, 6MT. We just drove from Southeast FL to western MA, 1421 miles virtually all highway at 70 mph. I got 28.3 mpg. Granted that's the absolute best conditions for getting good mileage. I'm usually around 23 around town. Pretty economical for a car that's this much fun!

 

The NA roadster gets 29 or better on long legal cruises. 26 to 28 most driving.
The SRT around 23 to 25 with Crumpy gently driving it to work on the highway. About 18 MPG when I have it out by myself.

Yeah, by myself. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Depends on what gas I buy.

Alcohol free gas gets 22 MPG (combined city/highway)

Gas containing ethanol gets 18 MPG.

 

I never thought about the ethanol in gas...That's probably why I can only manage 19 mpg. When driving in traffic, I've been using the autostick and it seems to help a bit.

 

I saw a certain someone pass me like I was being towed, I thought I was hard in it! 16 mpg sounds pretty good for him! I haven't heard a whine like that in a moving vehicle since I was in the USAF.

 

how did you manage 6.1mpg? Race gas? Cause that is utterly impressive on 93octane... No matter how much I beat ono the car, I can't get lower than about 14mpg.

Then again I only avg 18mpg on a good tank. I'm pretty sure fuel in the NE, sucks something awful in general.

If i make a concious effort to never go above 2,300 rpms while accelerating i get 24-26. Just tap up on the upshift when part throttle to get rpms low.

 

I guess i like the way the car moves when you go wot and i do that a lot,, in fact i put new rear tires on last year when cosco had them on sale, those were replaced 2 months ago maybe i got 5 to 6000 on them. ;;example,,, leave my house 2 blocks of neighborhood gotto go slow then 3 lane street,, then wot in 1 and 2 gear,,, stop for red light ,,wot 1 gear,, let off then down shift wot 2 ans 3 ,,let off,, stop at red light ( i have now gone 1.5 miles) turn right , wot 1 2 3 inter highway at around 80 to 90, let off drop back to 70 ,,then slap the shifter and wot 3 and into 4 let off, get off exway, exiting on a nice banked bridge,, drop shifter and wot ,at bottom of bridge red light if i am in front then wot 1 and 2 , 7 more redlights to get to shop, got 7 mpg, 18 mile trip took 11 min average 7 mpg,,, and this is every day love my srt6. jim

 

That's fantastic. I always seem to go WOT 1,2 when i leave work. There is a left turn from our private drive and it narrows from two to one lane about 100 yards down the road. It is usually WOT 1,2 let-off and slow down to the speed limit. Well, then again it's not completely WOT 2 because by the time I would get there it would be one lane and I would be doing about 80mph. It is always fun to go WOT1,2ish and get her up to about 70mph before I let off and slow back down to 45mph.

 

it's really hard to drive an srt normally...it is so addictive...it was like listening to pipes on the chevys I use to own...I would always have to get her up to speed....now it's listening to the s/c whine....and that acceleration feel...it's just a fun little car...the vette seemed to work a little harder or it seemed that way...all sports cars are fun in their own way, and I miss the Vette from time to time...but usually I forget about it at 140+ in less than a mile.....lol

 

I use "Gas Cubby" for iPhone since January of 2009 and keeps every fillup (and other service records). Very recommended btw!
